Beyond ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go.’ This Graduation Gift Gets You There

Following

Congratulations!

Today is your day.

You're off to Great Places!

You're off and away!

Oh, how many graduation wishes begin with those words?

“Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss may be the quintessential gift for grads (it’s currently #2 on Amazon’s bestseller chart). The 1990 book is brilliant, witty and wise, but I suggest another gift (or perhaps one in addition) that actually gives flight to those uplifting and poignant sentiments. After all, young grad, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

And that’s why I recommend a great-looking, not-too-fussy, let’s-hit-the-road piece of luggage: the Cotopaxi Allpa 38L Roller Bag. As graduation gifts go, this one is useful, stylish, tough and literally ready to roll wherever the freshly minted graduate is heading—cobblestone streets, backwoods trails, exotic train terminals. It’s your reminder to them that the world is theirs to explore:

You'll be on your way up!

You'll be seeing great sights!

You'll join the high fliers

who soar to high heights.

The Allpa pack, available in a carnival of color options, has two large, rugged wheels but is small enough to use as a carry-on. It’s built with water-resistant polyester and ballistic nylon paneling, and has all kinds of divider pockets and hideaway pouches to stash water bottles, hang keys and help your favorite grad stay organized like the real-world grownups they’ve suddenly become.

I appreciate that the Allpa has multiple grab handles to manage whatever overhead or underseat or yak-wagon stowage situation someone may encounter. And the solid extendable handle supports a backpack with a pass-through strap. It’s all perfect for when the new grad is headed “down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace” or “grind on for miles cross weirdish wild space.”

This may impress them, too: The Allpa is made is made from 100% recycled fabrics sourced from pre-consumer waste. That’s part of a serious commitment Cotopaxi is making to support various climate and social initiatives. The company is pushing to assist over five million people in poverty by 2028, becoming net-zero by 2045, and increasing their circularity through the use of sustainable materials.

With the bag at their side, they can take anything on, but Dr. Seuss certainly says it better than I can:

You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed.

You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.

Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best.

Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
