Blue by Joni Mitchell

Blue songs are like tattoos You know I've been to sea before Crown and anchor me Or let me sail away Hey Blue, here is a song for you Ink on a pin Underneath the skin An empty space to fill in Well there're so many sinking now You've got to keep thinking You can make it thru these waves Acid, booze, and ass Needles, guns, and grass Lots of laughs lots of laughs Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go Well I don't think so But I'm gonna take a look around it though Blue I love you

Blue here is a shell for you Inside you'll hear a sigh A foggy lullaby There is your song from me

10/10

One of my favorites from Joni and maybe my favorite song on Blue. The lyrics are gorgeous and very relatable for me and that piano melody is so beautiful and conveys so many emotions

Amazing song, painful and honest. I think it's one of her greatest songs, and it always gives me chills to hear the first note. Great writing, singing, and piano playing. The piano part always reminded me of waves in an ocean, which I think was intentional. 100/10

An absolute classic. Simple arrangement with Joni’s voice and piano, but just sublime. 10/10

Wow... Where to start? I don't think it would be an exaggeration (at least not around here) to say that "Blue," "River" and "A Case of You" are three of the finest songs in the history of popular music. I think enough has been written over the last 50 years about how utterly new the whole album is lyrically. Musically, "Blue" is more like an art song than a pop song. Mix it in to a playlist with songs by Schubert, or especially with French composers like Fauré and Debussy—you'll see what I mean. My favorite thing about "Blue" is the conversational cadence of the melody, especially in the middle section. The words flow so naturally... 10/10, obviously. Or let's go all "Spinal Tap" and turn it up to 11.

10/10 it got me hooked on her.

I was reading a review of other less famous artist, where compared it to Blue from Joni Mitchell.

I think this sound would be a challenge to sing for even professional singers.

10/10. Honestly, this could easily be considered one of the best songs ever made. No matter how many times I hear it, I never fail to tear up.
