History of the nickname

Yana Shemaeva calls the history of the pseudonym Jerry Heil “a little moronic.” When at the age of 15 she registered on the social network VKontakte, she indicated the fictitious name Jerry Mouse (from the name of the animated character in the cartoon “Tom and Jerry”, namely Jerry the mouse). Since 2012, Yana Shemaeva has filmed and published various video clips, ranging from conversational videos and blogs to music covers. She covered songs by famous Ukrainian and foreign performers: “Okean Elzy”, “The Hardkiss”, “Twenty One Pilots”, “Kodaline” and others. Scandals

In August 2018, Comp Music Publishing (a licensee of Universal Music Publishing Group in Ukraine) threatened to complain to Jerry Hale’s YouTube channel for copyright infringement because it did not have permission to publish a cover version of the track “Believer” by the American group “Imagine Dragons”. Subsequently, the company insisted that all covers of songs from the Universal Music catalog be removed from the channel, and demanded a fine of several thousand hryvnia for the rights to “Believer.” The company then filed two more complaints about the channel, resulting in its closure.

Eventually, the video label AIR Music, of which Hale is a partner, took over. At a meeting between the leaders of the video label, Comp Music and lawyers, an agreement was concluded. As a result of negotiations, fines for Hale were reduced, and the amount of licenses for three tracks for which copyrights were violated was also agreed upon. Comp Music Publishing withdrew the complaints and the channel was reopened
