WHS MAY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

WHS May Students of the Month
Wylie ISD and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union would like to congratulate the six Wylie High School students selected as the WHS Student-Athletes of the Month for May.

Kate Delgado
Junior
Kate is a state qualifier for the Bulldog tennis this spring. She is also involved in the Spanish Club at WHS. Kate goes to church at Holy Family Church, volunteers her time with Meals on Wheels, and plays in USTA tennis tournaments to keep her game sharp. After WHS, she plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Human Resources.

Michael Grimland
Senior
Michael is a teammate on the Bulldog varsity baseball team, and he is also a former member of the WHS honor band. He attends church at Southern Hills Church of Christ, and away from school he likes to fly fish, overland and camp out of his mom’s jeep, ride dirt bikes, and work at The Shed. Michael is going to the Texas Tech University Honors College to study mechanical engineering and looks forward to pursuing an engineering or management job in Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana.

Tate Heuerman
Junior
Tate is a member of the regional qualifying Bulldog tennis team. Away from school, he enjoys golfing, hunting, fly fishing, and archery. He also volunteers in many church activities through Southern Hills Church of Christ. Tate plans to attend Abilene Christian University after he graduates from Wylie High.

Kooper Jones
Senior
Kooper has been a part of both the varsity football and baseball teams this season. He is also involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and attends church at Beltway Park. Kooper is heading to Western Texas College in Snyder to continue his baseball playing career.

Landrye Schlentz
Junior
Landrye is a teammate on the 2024 district champion Wylie softball team. She is also a member of the WHS National Honor Society, Student Council, and The Purple Dog Company, a student-operated business run by WHS’s business management classes. Landrye attends church at Beltway Park, and she has volunteered at the Abilene Zoo. She plans to go to Oklahoma State University to major in marketing.

Shyla Thompson
Junior
Shyla is a member of the Wylie softball district championship program. She also participates in the floral department at WHS. She goes to church at Beltway Park. Her family is a big sports family, so she spends a lot of time watching and practicing for her sport. She plans to continue to play softball in college while pursuing a degree in the medical field.
