What do you think about the Dark Knight Archetype?

In games like Final Fantasy Tactics, WOW, Dragon Age, and so on, I love when they implement this class

A knight opposed to the Paladin with dark or spiritual magic

I liked the depiction in Tactics Ogre with the Terror Knight, drain magic, terror status, and being good at taking hits (not as good as a Paladin, but it makes sense)

Another example is the Death Knight in WOW.

Any "Dark Knight" lovers here? Would like to know your opinion and favorite depiction in other game series

The Dark Knight was good, but Bale got overshadowed by Ledger's performance.

Well, Cecil is one of my favorite Final Fantasy protagonists, so...

Reminds me of EverQuest’s Shadowknights:

Shadow Knights are a durable tank class. This Warrior/Necromancer hybrid has vampiric and damage-over-time spells. Shadow Knights have the unique ability to Harm Touch every 72 minutes, the power of which increases in absolute terms but decreases relative to enemies' hit points as a player levels up.

That was one of my favorite alts lol. Made a dark elf one. Was also pretty cool they got a pet also and fear. Basically like a warrior / necro whereas the paladin was a warrior / priest. Lay on Hands? No thanks, give me the harm touch. More fun hahah

Still, most fun for me was my main. A half elf ranger :)

I was an enchanter :) had lots of fun grouping with SK friend though

Aaaaah memories lol.

/OOC will donate for Clarity III

:D

I loved Fletching as a skill, though. NFI why.

haha I enjoyed the Fletching as well. That said, I felt so happy when I finally saved enough to get a Tolan's Bracer for day to day usage and exp camping lol.

I liked it more when I was younger- the "good guy using dark powers" vibe. The more and more I've aged, the more I tend to like my good guys to be good and bad guys to be bad. The real world has enough greyness and nuance, haha

Dark knight in ffxiv is a really fun tank and the vfx for most of the skills are pretty cool looking.

Well DnD has Blackguard which is essentially a dark knight

Dark Knights and Ninjas are my shit!

Dark Knights are generally OP. A+ dmg, A- dmg resistance & life leech are staples

Ehhh I think this kind of character is good in small doses.

The idea of an unholy knight as much a champion of evil and darkness as a Paladin is to good and light should be something extraordinary even among the rare few in the ranks of Paladins. If they’re fairly common it kind of looses its impact.

There’s only nine Nazgul and only one Darth Vader for a reason.

In Land Of Might there is a "dark knight" boss, it's one of the strongest bosses in the game
