My husband and I married in a goth wedding on Halloween - my bridal gown was black and I wore Dr Martens

A bride has shown off her very different wedding - including wearing a black wedding dress and Dr Martens as she tied the knott on Halloween.

Skyelar Kowalewski, from Indiana in the USA, chose a 'goth' theme for her nuptials to husband Colton - in a ceremony she refers to as her 'Hallowedding'.

Skyelar chose to break tradition in almost every way possible - and the results were stunning.

The bride opted for a black wedding gown from Mia Bella Couture with a long flowing veil.

The dress even had a large slit up the thigh, as Skyelar wanted to show off her chunky Dr. Martens boots.

Skyelar said: 'I chose an unconventional wedding because I really wanted something different from the norm.

'I've always loved darker fashion and spookier trends so it felt natural to me to choose a darker, moodier, almost goth style wedding.

'I love the colour black in general and I didn't see many black wedding dresses at the time and I thought it would be so cool to do something super different!'

She added: 'I always knew I wanted an alternative feel for the wedding and I had already picked out a black wedding dress, so it only made sense to wear my favourite Dr. Martens platform boots!'

Skyelar, who also posts on TikTok under the name @ghoulfriendnextdoor, also wore a flower crown of black roses.

The venue at Fort Wayne in Indiana was decorated in a similar theme with black candles and signs with quotes such as 'it was always you' and 'you and me'.

Colton the groom also wore a suit in a jet black colour, while the bridesmaids were a deep shade of wine red.

Colton and Kerrie also chose to wear Docs and Skyelar even added a slit in her dress to allow them to be seen more easily.
