@Posh Poodle   What a great name! She looks as sweet as the candy bar. How wonderful that you rescued her and gave her a loving home.

I had a Cocker Spaniel, another dog that was popular in the 50s.

She was my baby for 15 years.

I used to want an apricot poodle, but cats have been our pets for the past 50 years.

@Desert Lily   Thank you so much. I'm jealous, your skirt must have been so cute. I would have loved to have one back then.

@Enufstuff  I'm not sure, but it seems like the one I had was made of a felt type of material, or maybe the poodle was. The material was on the stiff side though, but I suppose my slip gave it support.

Enufstuff!!!!

What beautiful outfits for Toni and Collette!!!!  I can imagine the work you put into making the poodle skirts and you achieved perfection!!!!!  Your talent continues with each post and it is fun to see your creations.  I couldn't pick a favorite because all the outfits are my favorites!!!!!  When I was a young girl, I wish my Toni doll could have had such a fabulous wardrobe!!!!

@haddon9   What a coincidence, that you and Collette had the same color poodle skirts. Your skirt must have been very pretty.

Originally, I was only going to make the pink skirt and white blouse. Then I remembered how people dyed their poodles pink or blue and I thought that a skirt with a pink poodle would be cute.

Pink and gray was such a classic 50s color combination. (When I was a child, my mother did the kitchen and the bathroom pink and gray.)

So I went back to Joann's and got the gray felt and made a little pink poodle from the leftover pink felt from the first skirt. Pink seemed to be the best color for a blouse to go with the gray skirt.

I'm working on another outfit with an aqua skirt(not a poodle) and had to put it away for this weekend. I don't have a sewing room and all my supplies were in the living room and TV room, where I was sewing.

I had to get the house ready for all my visitors, today being my birthday and tomorrow Mother's Day.

Next week I'll get back to the next little outfit.

@Desert Lily   Those skirts were made of felt and that did have a little stiffness. Girls probably wore crinoline petticoats too.

The poodles and other appliques that were used, were felt too.  So many different designs were used.

I found pictures of vintage skirts with Scottie Dogs, Dacshunds, cats  and Christmas theme designs.

I also found a picture of Queen Elizabeth (before she was Queen) wearing a felt cirlce skirt and the design was Romeo and Juliet.

@spiderw   Thank you so much. When I had my Toni Dolls as a child, they didn't have a wardrobe of outfits to choose from.

They only had the dress they came with. One did have a little fake fur coat that my grandmother bought. My other grandmother crocheted a little red winter hat, for the doll.

@Enufstuff  Absolutely incredible job on Toni and Colette's hair and outfits, Enuffstuff! WOW!!  Oooh these are such a treat to look at- I just love how you created these outfits Smiley Very HappyHeart.  Beautiful color schemes, I love the crisp white and pink blouses with perfect little collars and cuffs at the sleeves.  Beautiful hairdos on Toni and Colette- you set their hair perfectly.  The poodle skirts are just sooo charming- look at the structure to the skirts and the beautiful up and down waves to the skirt hem and the metallic leashe and the little details of the poodles sewn onto the skirts.  The little socks and shoes- absolutely incredible.  You truly are such a gifted artist, thank you for showing us your work.  I always get so excited to see your work and to hear the stories you create for their outings, plus to hear the inside scoop about your creative process. Wonderful!

I wish you a very, very Happy Birthday, Enuffstuff and a very Happy Mothers Day Smiley Very HappyHeart!  Here's to celebrating you and the fact that you're a great mother, artist, friend, daughter, wife, cat mom, cook/baker, dancer, and more! Heart

It sounds like you have a lot of fun planning out Toni's outfits and stories. I certainly enjoy seeing your creations and reading about Toni's adventures.

I can't wait to see her new aqua skirt! That was also a popular 50s color.

@SportyShorty07   Thank you so much for the plethora of

accolades. You are less than half my age and you yourself have

achieved so much and have so many talents.

You have such great communication skills, determination and drive to achieve your goals whether they are culinary art, fine art, fitness and health and creativity. I admire your love of creating such wonderful foods for your family to enjoy and your kindness and generosity in sharing recipes here.

Your creativity, determination and communication skills  will take you far and will lead to your success. I'm sure of it.

I'm glad that you enjoyed seeing the Poodle Skirt outfits. They were fun to make but a little more difficult than the dresses.

Thanks again, for the birthday wishes. It has been a lovely birthday. Of course I got many cards and gifts, but one of the most special things was a huge bouquet of lilacs.

My middle daughter brought them and has been bringing me lilacs for my birthday every year, since she was a little girl.

She would say "Mama, I got you "ilacs". When she was very little, she couldn't say lilacs. She was probably 3 or 4 years old.
