Creedence Clearwater Revival’s music never disappears from the Billboard charts. Sometimes the band is all over a number of rankings, while in other instances, they can only be found on one or two. Even after so many decades have passed, the group is still present–and this week, they’re climbing with what has turned out to be their most successful album.
Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits climbs on four different Billboard charts this time around. Its ascent brings the title back into some of the highest and most competitive tiers on several lists, showing once again that Creedence Clearwater Revival is still incredibly popular.
The band’s greatest hits collection finds its way back into the top 10 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart this week. The set lifts from No. 11 to No. 9 in its three-hundred-and-eighth frame on the ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in those genres.
Chronicle can also be found inside the top 10 on another, related tally–though it doesn’t need to return to the arena, as it was already there. Creedence Clearwater Revival’s compilation steps up from No. 9 to No. 7 on the Top Rock Albums chart.
Creedence Clearwater Revival is also back inside the top 40 on what is considered the most important albums ranking in the U.S., the Billboard 200. Chronicle is up to No. 39 on that list at the moment–not too far from the title’s No. 18 peak. Last frame, the project was down at No. 47.
The rock band’s beloved project is even succeeding on streaming platforms, which is unusual for a legacy act. Chronicle steps up from No. 48 to No. 42 on the Top Streaming Albums chart. If the full-length continues with this trajectory, it could soon best its No. 38 high point on the streaming-only roster.
In the past tracking period, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle moved 18,481 equivalent units, according to Luminate. That sum–which reflects total consumption–is up just under 6% from the period before. Of that figure, 1,965 are pure sales, which is a sizable number for a decades-old collection.
As their album succeeds, CCR has one song that’s also charting. Their decades-old smash “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” is, like Chronicle, improving its stance. On the latest edition of the Rock Streaming Songs chart, the tune moves up one spot to No. 21.
