“ROSEMARY’S BABY” PREQUEL “APARTMENT 7A” TO DEBUT ON PARAMOUNT+ THIS FALL

Posted on: May 11th, 2024

Last year, we brought you the rather unexpected news that a Rosemary’s Baby prequel was in the works over at Paramount.

Little was known about the film plot-wise, but Paramount had snared an excellent cast for the project. Ozark star Julia Garner will head the project, with acting legend Dianne Wiest taking on the role of Minnie Castevet. Now we can bring you some further plot details and reveal the movie’s release plans.

Garner will allegedly portray the part of Terry Gionoffrio, the rehabilitated addict the Castevet’s initially targeted in 1968’s Rosemary’s Baby. The film will focus on what happened off-screen in Roman Polanski’s classic, unravelling the events that ultimately led to Terry’s “suicide.”

Colour us intrigued! Furthermore, Apartment 7A will take place in 1965, and feature Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse in supporting roles.

Being a Paramount Players production, it is little surprise that the film will debut on Paramount+ later this year. The studio is said to be lining up a selection of “frights” to entertain subscribers in the run-up to Halloween 2024.

So, whilst no official date has been given, you can expect Apartment 7A to premiere on the streaming service towards the end of October.

We can’t help but find it a shame the film isn’t going theatrical, as the world of Rosemary’s Baby certainly has that level of scale and intrigue. However, given the underperformance of recent prequel The First Omen, it’s understandable why Paramount want to take a safer step.
