The Cosmopolitan Hotel Las vegas the Cost & upgrade rooms

So ive never been to Las Vegas. im from Australia

I want to stay at the Cosmopolitan Hotel a the strip.

I was looking at the official website. But nothing seems cheap cost and it all looks like over thousands of dollars just to stay for about 10 days.

For example lets say i choose the 8th of January and departure from las vegas on the 20th January (all during the week time)

Room type: TERRACE ONE BEDROOM SUITE or the TERRACE STUDIO FOUNTAIN VIEW

both type rooms seems similar and dont no what BIG diferents are they all considering they all seem separate bedrooms ? and they all seem to have the same layout balcony with fountain views regardless..

but aniways lets say i choose one of these rooms. 1 adult. Why do people always say (book things in advance) and you will get the room cheaper per night. Well..... not really because i am looking well ahead on the calender as far as January 2025 for example and the prices isnt cheap compare to if you where to stay there next month which we are currently in May 2024. So not much diferences in prices if you pay well ahead in advance vs if you where to pay to get there next month. So whats with the people saying prices will drop down alot.... well from what i see the prices seems around high cost regardless you pay in advance or get there at the last minute. So please dont tell me to register free member card by the hotel to get discounts because i never been to Las vegas to start with and i only travel overseas every 2 years and not every year. And also i can't afford to (*gamble) just to get points for nothing. if i do gamble it be a day or 2 but not everydays while i go to Vegas.

So i always look at the Official website only. i dont look at Booking. com or such ONLY because thertes one hickup and that is that it is always best to book things at the cosmopolitan hotel website to be 100% sure you get what you paid for for the type of room you wanted. As mention above the 2 different type rooms im keen to stay. So to preserve and be 100% sure what i get for what i paid for is the room i paid for. Otherwise doing all this on other websites like booking .com it might be a complication and you wont no too much the actual real room you will get. And or they wont always show you the all type rooms that the Cosmo offers. So i stick to the official website just to be on the safe side and to know what im paying and to know exactly the room ive preserved.

Anywhow i understand there are this thing call High season and Low season which plays a roll on the cost. But regardless you go on a High season or a Low season any random time month of the year the price on these rooms are always over thousands of dollars just to stay for 10 days only. Hmmm

So not sure why Americans always say that it is much cheaper if you book things in advance.,. Well sure.. thats what i plan on doing but the price on the official website still doesnt look cheap. Or at least slightly cheaper. I understand the 2 different room models isnt going to be cheap regardless but yeah....

So any advice and ways to deal this?

Also i heard that if you get to the hotel and give them 20 dollars just to (upgrade your room for free) this isnt really for FREE from what i believe so lets say you booked online the TERRACE ONE BEDROOM SUITE FOUNTAIN VIEW for 10 days. And when you arrive at the hotel you show your bookings and passport and all.. I hear you give them 20 dollars if you request a (free upgrade) for example you want the Wrap around fountain suite... Well think again.. Just because you want a free upgrade does not mean you won't have to pay anymore then what you paid online already for the cost for 10 days for the TERRACE ONE BEDROOM SUITE FOUNTAIN VIEW because upgrading means you still have to pay MORE money per nights just to upgrade the room lets say the Wrap around suite. Its not free upgrade regardless you still have to pay the value for the Wrap around suite anyways.

But when booking on the Cosmopolitan official website. it tells me already want to upgrade the next level room ? which shows the price.. you go ahead or you don't So not sure whats the point in requesting at the hotel in person when the website already does this for you before you book anything.

Anyways let us know love to hear from you from all above. Take care

Way too many words lol.

I’m not sure what the eventual question is. But I got as far as reading your trip dates included the Consumer Electronics Show. The biggest convention of the year.

So rooms are going to be very expensive.

Hopefully someone else is up for reading the whole thing and giving some insight.

Consider moving your dates to avoid the CES show?

Alternatively, consider splitting your stay among two or three hotels. In particular, stay somewhere you can afford during CES. Hopefully you can stay at the Cosmopolitan before or after that big event, it's pretty sweet.

Use a hotel room search engine like KAYAK, and be open to staying downtown or wherever it takes during CES to get in your price range. You may end up enjoying the variety.

Cheers!
