silly pre econ accounting major student in need of input for future schedule planning

Course Questions

hello!! I am a pre-econ and accounting and poli sci double major trying to figure out my class schedules for summer and next year. I mega fucked up my schedule this year this year and was not able to take econ 1 or 2 because I fell victim to advisors saying to not take econ 1 fall quarter while also stupidly not taking econ 1 winter quarter. I have some options i am choosing from right now so if I could get some input I would appreciate it!! I currently have econ 5, math 34a and b, and am currently taking econ3a this quarter.

option 1:

  • econ 1 @ ucd online summer session 1

  • econ 2 @ ucsc online summer session 2

  • econ 3b fall quarter 2024 (or even during the summer @ ucsb online summer session 2)

  • econ 10a winter quarter 2024 (or fall quarter 2024)

  • adding poli sci classes along the way as well

option 2:

  • econ 1 and econ 3b @ ucsb fall quarter 2024

  • econ 2 @ ucsb winter quarter 2024

  • econ 10a @ ucsb spring quarter 2025

  • adding poli sci classes along the way as well

any other options or plans econ 1, 2, 3b, and 10a that you can suggest would also be appreciated. I am also registered for econ3b for summer @ ucsb online but do not know if I should drop it and take it in person next year.

my overall question is basically, is it worth it to take econ 1 and 2 online and be able to declare earlier with a chance of inflating GPA (but also I heard taking online is not great for learning fundamentals) or is it better to take everything @ ucsb in person and delay declaring.

I definitely think option 1 since you’re able to get into the major faster. Your courses also seem manageable in the different quarters.

ty!! I see ur taking econ 10a rn, does it build off a lot from econ 1 and 2?

if anything it barely builds off from Econ 1 and definitely nothing from Econ 2. I will say that having a super general/broad understanding of Econ 1 will suffice. Everything from Econ 10A is new stuff.

Option 1, the quicker you advance into the full major status, the more flexible your future schedule and planning will be.

Remember not to overload yourself and crash prep-major GPA
