Sam Hazeldine Replaces Joseph Mawle as Adar

Initially played by Joseph Mawle, Adar will be played by Sam Hazeldine in The Rings of Power season 2, instead.

Although Mawle had not explained his departure from the show, he did write, "Best to cast and crew for S2, I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines X."

Sam Hazeldine is best known for playing recurring roles in Peaky Blinders as George Sewell, Rain Dogs as Paul, Slow Horses as Moe, and most recently, in Masters of the Air as Lt. Col. Albert 'Bub' Clark.

Ciarán Hinds, best known for playing Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones and Aberforth Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise, is joining The Rings of Power season 2 in an undisclosed role.

Meanwhile, other new actors joining the Lord of the Rings series are Rory Kinnear (Black Mirror, The Diplomat, James Bond), Ben Daniels (House of Cards, The Crown), Tanya Moodie (Motherland, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Stuart Bowman (Versailles, Gary: Tank Commander).

There's also Gavi Singh Chera (The Lazarus Project, The Undeclared War), William Chubb (Vampire Academy, The Sandman), Kevin Eldon (Hot Fuzz, Game of Thrones), Selina Lo (Hellraiser, Boss Level), Yasen "Zates" Atour (The Witcher), and Nicholas Woodeson (The Danish Girl, Skyfall, Shameless).

Oliver Alvin Wilson (Lovesick, Murder in Provence) is one of the upcoming newcomers who are either new to acting or being cast for TV roles.

Alongside Oliver, there are Will Keen (His Dark Materials), Calam Lynch (Dunkirk, Bridgerton), Gabriel Akuwudike (Hanna, War of the Worlds), Nia Towle (Rocketman, Persuasion), and Amelia Kenworthy (Irl).

Returning Cast Members For The Rings of Power Season 2

Rings of the Power fans can expect the majority of the original cast from season 1 to return this season 2, namely: Morfydd Clark as Galadriel and Charlie Vickers as Sauron (formerly Halbrand).

This also includes Robert Aramayo as Lord Elrond, Benjamin Walker as High King Gil-galad, Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, Nazanin Boniadi as Bronwyn, and Tyroe Muhafidin as Theo.

Additionally, Markella Kavenagh as Eleanor "Nori" Brandyfoot, Owain Arthur as Prince Durin IV, Daniel Weyman as The Stranger (rumored to be Gandalf), Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Queen Regent Miriel, Lloyd Owen as Elendil, and Maxim Baldry as Isildur.

What Fans Can Expect in The Rings of Power Season 2

While filming has already wrapped for The Rings of Power season 2, the most that we know about its storyline was teased by showrunner Patrick McKay.

"We're really excited. Season 2 has a canonical story," McKay previously said, "There may well be viewers who are like, 'This is the story we were hoping to get in season one!' In season 2, we're giving it to them."

More recently, season 2 director Charlotte Brändström also let fans know that this season will be "edgier" and "more character-driven" with some "very surprising twists and turns" to expect along the way.
