KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Christian Moore was everything the Vols needed en route to securing a series win over Vanderbilt.

Moore scored five off three hits. The effort was highlighted by a three-run homer in the top of the sixth that brought in Cannon Peebles and Dean Curley.

The junior’s homer gave Tennessee a 6-4 lead, after trailing by a run since the the bottom of the fourth.

Blake Burke added to Moore’s sixth inning performance with a trip home off a wild pitch, giving Tennessee what would be their final run of the night. However, it was just enough to survive one final run off a Colin Barczi drive in the bottom of the ninth, Tennessee coming away with a 7-6 win.

With Moore’s home run, he’s just one away from topping the Tennessee single-season home run record.
