VinFast quietly working on the sidelines

It’s been a while since we last heard news Vietnamese car brand VinFast and its plans to set up shop in the country, but it seems like they’ve been making important steps under the radar.

We were able to have a look at the Department of Energy’s latest list of recognized EVs. Previously, only the VinFast VF5 crossover was on the list but now more models from the Vietnamese brand have been added.

Those include models like the VF e34, the VF6 Plus, the VF7 Plus, the VF8, and the VF9. It’s an important thing to note that all of these models are battery-electric crossovers with varying sizes, battery capacities, and power outputs.

The VF5 crossover still remains the smallest EV so far on the list under VinFast, measuring just under four meters long. The VF6 Plus looks to be VinFast’s answer to the likes of the BYD Dolphin, as it’s just over 4.2 meters long with a 204 PS electric motor paired to a 59.6 kWh battery.

From the VF e34, the EV crossovers get bigger in size the higher the number it is on the model name, with the VF9 being the biggest that sits over 5.1 meters long.

All the VinFast EV crossovers currently on the list feature CCS/Type 2 chargers, which is the most widely used charging connector in the EV charging stations that we currently have in the country.

With that being the case, VinFast could make itself known in the country as an all-EV, all crossover brand once they officially launch here. We’ll keep you posted for more updates once we get a few more details about VinFast entering the Philippine market.
