Keydets conclude rainy series in Tennessee

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – VMI Baseball (25-26, 6-12 SoCon) did not have the outcome it wanted this weekend, falling on both ends of Sunday's doubleheader against East Tennessee State (30-15, 12-6 SoCon) at Thomas Stadium.

The Keydets attacked first but witnessed defeat in game one, 11-1, before seeing a 9-0 loss in game two to the Buccaneers. VMI has dropped back-to-back Southern Conference series for the first time this season.
 
Game 1 Key Stats
- Ty Swaim added a pair of hits including a home run, marking his 20th multi-hit game of 2024
- After drawing a walk, Trey Morgan extended his on-base streak to 36 games
- Justin Starke, Jimmy Koza, and Cole Raile each recorded a hit
- Keydets were hit by three pitches

Game 1 Scoring Summary
- Swaim opened the game with a leadoff bomb to left field to give VMI the early 1-0 advantage
- ETSU scored 11 unanswered runs to complete the run rule in seven innings
 
Game 2 Key Stats
- Ty Swaim continued his strong stretch at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base
- Trey Morgan played in his 210th career game, tied for most in VMI Baseball history
- Morgan also got on base for the 37th-straight time this season after a third-inning hit
- With his stolen base in the first frame, Swaim moves up to third all-time in stolen bases
- Hitters  in the one through three spots accounted for four of the Keydets' six hits

- Bucs scored four times between the first and second innings before adding five more later in the game to blank the Keydets
