Dennis Welsh, who retired in June after a decade as general manager of Fox 32 Chicago (WFLD-TV) and My50 Chicago (WPWR-TV), sold his State Parkway house May 10.

Welsh and his wife, Kellie Welsh, sold the four-bedroom rowhouse for a little less than $2.88 million. They put it on the market in  early March at a little over $2.9 million and had a deal with a buyer two weeks later. The sale price is about 97% of their asking price.

Crain's could not reach Welsh, who had 26 years' tenure at Fox television stations. A listed phone number for him does not answer.

Margaret Baczkowski, an @properties Christie's International Real Estate agent who represented the property with Karen McAdam of the same brokerage, did not respond to a request for comment.

The Welshes bought the rowhouse in 2013, the same year Dennis Welsh took the top job at Fox 32. They paid a little over $2.32 million, according to the Cook County Clerk.

When Welsh retired in June, Fox 32 aired a brief send-off in which anchor Corey McPherrin said Welsh "was as passionate as they come. Dennis led the station through the pandemic and a massive renovation project that transformed our station." The station, housed in Michigan Plaza, 205-225 N. Michigan Avenue, unveiled a re-designed studio in 2021 that emphasizes its downtown setting with views of thes streetscape and elevated trains rolling by.

The rowhouse the Welshes just sold is one in a line of ten built in the early 1870s with limestone facades and a decorative cornice running along the top of the row.

According to the listing, during their years in the house, the Welshes "completely and lovingly renovated the home with meticulous attention to architectural and historic details."

The photos in the listing show vintage details, such as a historical staircase with wood newel post, banister and ribbed molding, along with modern updates including a large primary bath with a soaking tub and a modern kitchen with marble countertops and a wood island and pendant lamps that suggest the house's 19th century origin.

The dining room is a stylish combination of pink walls and black lacquer trim.

Ou front there's an amiable garden  with benches for socializing with neighbors and passersby, and a back yard that's large for the Gold Coast, big enough for a pair of bluestone terraces and a two-car garage.

The buyers, who were represented by Compass agent Chris Downey, are not yet identified in public records.
