Hello, we will stay in Dorsoduro , (hotel Agli Alboretti). Please recommend us good and affordable restaurant in Dorsoduro . Thank you!
Your hotel has a very good restaurant, but if you want something a bit cheaper, there are plenty of options. A short stroll south, on the Zattere waterfrront, is a good and reasonably priced pizza place called Alle Zattere.
I saw recommendations for this restaurant and asked our hotel to call and make us reservations for next month. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187870-d1088122-Reviews-Ristorante_La_Bitta-Venice_Veneto.html
Edited: 19 May 2024, 12:55La Bitta is good - we’ve eaten there a couple of times. It’s for carnivores - there’s no fish on the menu.
Do you happen to know if they have anything vegetarian at La Bitta? I ate there years ago and it was really good and had veg but it was a long time ago. Can't find a menu. Thanks.
Edited: 19 May 2024, 13:59CapePenguin: La Bitta is "vegetarian friendly," although its vegetarian options are limited.
Oniga has some vegetarian dishes--It's right on Campo San Barnaba.
Before dinner be sure to visit the excellent chicetti bars not far from your hotel. Gia Schiavis is a really authentic, family run business, serving excellent wines and chicetti ( standing only) and Osteria San Trovaso is another nearby we love. Both are at the side of a canal, just off the main walking route from Acadaemia to Zaterre and overlook a very picturesque gondola repair workshop and San Trovaso Church. Casin de Nobli is a reasonably priced restaurant with good menu choices and character, just off Campo San Barnaba. Taverna San Trovaso can be a bit unpredictable quality wise but we had a nice meal there late last year. On Calle Lunga San Barnaba there are some lovely little traditional restaurants including the previously mentioned La Bitta. For a lighter dinner option Osteria alla Bifora, on Campo San Marguerita, is very atmospheric if you sit inside - it has outside seating on the campo too - and serves gorgeous platters of charcuterie as well as simple hot dishes. OKE Zattere is on the waterfront and has the option of outside seating. They serve very good pizza, pasta, salads made with local ingredients. Ristorante Pizzeria Ai Sportivi, a couple of doors up from Orange, Campo Santa Marguerita, is our fall back place as you can always get a table there without booking. It's a bit hit and miss and touristy ( waiter outside drumming up business) but their pizza has always been great in our experience. Good luck
Edited: 19 May 2024, 15:54@CapePenguin I wouldn’t go to La Bitta if you are looking for vegetarian. It is for carnivores. There may be the odd vegetable based dish but the cooking may mean it’s not vegetarian
The menu is handwritten and changes and looking at a picture from our visit in March there were 2 possible vegetarian choices out of 11 and neither were marked vegetarian. We go every trip and always enjoy our food but wouldn’t take a vegetarian there. Not sure where we would as I’ve never thought about it.
Search the forum as it’s definitely been asked or you probably already know the Tripadvisor search has a filter for vegetarian friendly.
Thanks for the comments about the La Bitta menu and other ideas. I will probably remove it from my list. I already am planning La Zucca which I liked many years ago and probably will also do lots of cicchetti which is always fun.
