What tools do you use to get quotes from the book?

Question

This question is directed specifically at people who ad quotes feom the book to their posts.

I am currently working on several posts that are part of a bigger project I wanted to do.

I have physical copies of the books, but unfortunately only in german. How do you copy quotes but also search for things in the books?

I have a pretty good memory of the books and can find most passages I want to look at within a minute, but with some things it is quite hard to remember every single scene.

An example would be every time the economy of the varden is mentioned.

Giving examples of scenes where they are mentioned is easy, but making sure to find every single scene feels impossible right now.

My specific example that I am struggleing with right now would be every time wolves appear or are mentioned.

I have them digitally and just hit F on my keyboard to find the quote I need by typing it in. Then I use the quote block setting on the Reddit website. You can do it on mobile too I think by putting 5 spaces before you type, like a paragraph. I THINK you can do it that way. Could be wrong. If not just use Reddit on desktop.

Neat. Thanks.

Thank you for posting in r/eragon. Please read the rules in the sidebar, and please see here for our current Murtagh spoiler policy.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

I have the PDFs of the books, I hit Ctrl-F and search for keywords on the topics I'm researching.

If you have only a physical copy of the book you need to do it the old fashion way.

Try to remember when the event occurred, go to the table of contents, and then spend 5 minutes looking for it.

Not sure what other answer you are hoping for.

You can always buy the digital copy.

I was wondering if the Arcana bot from the discord or a different kind of "tool" had a functionality like that. It seems like digital download is the savest way to go about this.

Don't the books have indices in the back? If you can find the spot you want with the index, you can use Google lens to take a photo and then copy the translation.

Isn't there some kind of app that lets you use your camera to lift words from physical to digital or something along the lines?

Buddy has never heard of “ctrl+f”

Tell me wise one. How do you ctrl+f in a physical book copy? Ohh right. It seems like you did not even read my post properly.

Download the books? It takes 4 seconds and one google search

People who get a lot of quotes from books download a pdf and use Ctrl+f. Do you think they painstakingly flip through the book each time???

No, but your comment does not make any sense. As I say in my post, I was looking for "tools" that people use to get quotes from the books. I was hoping there were solutions that would not require me to buy the digital copies.

One example of a useful tool is the Arcana Bot. I personally have never used it and do not know what functionalitites it has. There are also other things on the discords as far as I know. Thats why I asked what people use.

I’m sure you can find a free digital copy online with the use of google
