Think of the perfect summer palette and you’ll envision Fendi’s spring/summer 2024 collection. The show was an embodiment of colour blocking in itself—warm, vibrant looks in contrast to a sleek white runway. As envisioned by creative director Kim Jones, the collection boasted bright oranges and vibrant yellows, complemented with pastel blues and neutrals. The collection paid homage to the individualistic style of women, underscored by a flair of quiet luxury.
Enhancing the kaleidoscopic display was Fendi’s very own reimagined Selleria bag, accompanying the warm looks alongside other standout accessories like the Origami bag and the new Fendi Flip. Its name inspired by the Italian word for saddle, the Fendi Selleria was first created by Fendi’s founder Adele Fendi with the help of ancient Roman saddlers. The handbag is quintessential of the brand’s Roman roots, and it has become a trademark of the Italian house. Carefully handcrafted with the expert techniques picked up by master saddlers, the Selleria is known for its signature saddle stitching and distinguished use of soft Cuoio Romano leather. The collection gracefully melds past and present, with fresh designs being introduced while still keeping its hallmark elements. The latest line-up reintroduces their Peekaboo and Baguette bags in bright yellows and reds, as well as soft blues and house browns for their spring/summer 2024 collection.
The new Selleria collection reimagines the saddle stitching, the usual wax thread replaced with a luscious leather of a matching hue, giving the bags as well as the ready-to-wear pieces a fresh revamp while still keeping its nostalgic flair. The new collection also sees a metal hardware form of the saddle stitch, which can be found in the heels of their shoes and anklets, as well as in the Fendi writing of the ear cuffs and bracelets from the Fendi Filo jewellery collection. With its effortless stitching of tradition with modern style, all while maintaining their dedication to quality hand craftsmanship, it is no wonder the Italian luxury house is continuously making its mark in fashion’s ever-changing landscape.
