The boy’s track and field team competed in a two day meet fighting for the Chagrin Valley Conference – Valley Division Championship. In an invitational such as this, you have to place in the top 8 spots in your event to earn points for the team. Overall, the boys performed well claiming 4th place as a team with 96 total points. In shot put, junior Max Soltis threw 48 feet 11.5 inches to secure the title of CVC champion. Max also took 1st place in discus with a massive throw of 153 feet, earning him his second CVC champion title! Jaiden Fix took 6th place in the pole vault. The 4×800 relay team consisting of Jaiden Fix, Sam Gdovichin, Oliver Kumher, and Ryan Miller took 5th place. Junior Troy Champlin ran a PR in 110 meter hurdles taking 3rd place. Sophomore Ethan Bosch was able to outperform the competition in both the 200 and 100 meter dash to claim the title of CVC champion in each. Ethan also performed well in the long jump taking 5th place. Sophomore Matthew Canfield jumped a PR in long jump securing himself a 7th place finish. Sophomore Samuel Gdovichin took 4th place in the mile with a PR and 2nd place in the 2 mile run adding 13 points to the team total. Sophomore Tor Easlake took 6th place in the 400 meter dash. The 4×100 relay team consisting of Troy Champlin, Deacon Yost, Tor Eastlake, and Ethan Bosch took 2nd place allowing them to earn 8 points. In the 300 meter hurdles, Troy Champlin took 3rd place. Junior Ryan Miller placed 6th in the 800 meter run, gapping the next finisher by 6 seconds. The 4×400 relay team consisting of Ben Bolton, Tor Eastlake, Deacon Yost, and Ryan Miller took 4th place. Not only did the team take home a ton of hardware, but two of our outstanding athletes earned CVC MVP status! Max Soltis got voted All Field Event MVP and Ethan Bosch was voted All Running Event MVP. The team will compete at the District meet next week hosted by Cuyahoga Heights. Good luck, men!
