Jean Kauffmann, 91, Obituary – 5/2/2024


Jean Ann Kauffmann, 91, of Glencoe, MN, formerly of Arlington, MN, passed away surrounded by her family Thursday, May 2, 2024, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington.

Visitation took place at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 3:30 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. and the holy rosary at 3:45 p.m.

Additional visitation will take place at the Kolden Funeral Home the morning of Friday, May 10, from 9 to 10:15 a.m. prior to proceeding to the church.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Luncheon to follow the burial in church social hall.

Jean was born July 10, 1932, to Louis and Frances (Tambornino) Beer in Le Center, MN. She graduated from Le Center High School.

Following graduation, she worked for the Nicollet County Bank in St. Peter, MN.

She married Michael H. Kauffmann May 31, 1954, in St. Peter, and moved to the Kauffmann family farm in rural Arlington, where she lived for 58 years before moving to Glencoe in 2012.

Jean was a dedicated and loving farm wife and mother, involved in and supportive of all aspects of farming and the family businesses. She also supported her husband’s and children’s many activities. Faith, family, and friends were important to her.

She enjoyed helping others, birdwatching, gardening, her farm cats, sewing, puzzles, camping, snowmobiling, and her card and game groups.

She was also a 4-H leader, and a member of St. Mary’s CCW, American Legion Auxiliary, Minnesota International Harvester Collectors Club, and LeSueur Pioneer Power.

Jean is survived by her children, Patty Duenow of Coon Rapids, MN, Mary Adelmann of Glencoe, Steve (Lynn) Kauffmann of Albuquerque, NM, Cathy (Fred) Werth of Glencoe, and Beverly (Rich) Vignes of St. Louis Park, MN; 11 grandchildren, James (Rachel) Duenow, Anne (Brad) Smith, Margaret (Dan) Johnson, Michele (Jason) Radosevich, Mark (Annie) Adelmann, Amanda (Andy Jarvinen) Kauffmann, Hannah Kauffmann, Teresa Werth, Jonathan (Elise) Werth, Madison Vignes, and Annika Vignes; 20 great-grandchildren: Avarie, Jacie, Brynlie, Jorie, and Elsie Duenow, Morgan and Sawyer Smith, Edward and Thomas Johnson, Kate and Luke Radosevich, Ian, Caleb, Nora, Aiden, Maci, and Maddox Adelmann, and Jacob, Henry, and William Werth; and one brother and his spouse, George (Donna) Beer of Le Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; sons-in-law, Duane Duenow and Paul Adelmann; and eight siblings and their spouses, Edward (Mary) Beer, Catherine (Ralph) Hagel, Charles Beer, Leonard (Dolly) Beer, Louise (Harris) Johnson, Marie (Robert) Miller, Joan (Eugene) Johengen, and Margaret (Virgil) Parker.
