Jill Wagner: ‘Find the Good’ in Life’s Imperfections

Jill Wagner is reminding us to embrace life’s imperfections.

“I thought I’d do a little post on accepting the imperfections in life,” she said in a recent video for Great American Family. “This is something that I am currently trying to work on as well. I’m not very good at that, but maybe it’s because I’m a bit of a control freak, and I’ve been trying to work on that and to understand that there is so much beauty in the moments that aren’t planned. I’m a planner.”

Wagner recalled a recent party she had for her kids that involved an egg hunt. However, on the day of the party, the forecast called for rain, which caused Wagner to start stressing about what to do. She then reminded herself that children don’t care about the little things the way adults do.

“The beauty of children is that they go outside, and they don’t care if it’s raining,” she explained. “They live in the moment…and it makes up such a beautiful memory for them. I think we, as adults, kind of lose that childlike quality, that ability to love all the imperfections.”

Wagner concluded, “There’s so many moments like that in our life, and if we can just stop and accept the moment and find the good in it.”

It was recently announced that Wagner will be starring in Great American Family’s AURORA CHRISTMAS, alongside Jesse Hutch, Lauren Holly and Bruce Boxleitner.

“In AURORA CHRISTMAS, Erin [Wagner] joins her dad Doug [Boxleitner] for a Christmas in the family’s former hometown of Aurora on a mission that is part business — selling the family home — and major bucket list item for Erin to see the Aurora Borealis light up the Northern sky,” a synopsis of the movie reads. “Realtor Lori [Holly] and family friend and local tour guide Trevor [Hutch] create a Christmas inspired at every turn by faith, love, and hope, so much so that Christmas bells hung over decades in a forest grove ring an unbroken song, a harbinger of miracles to come.”

Wagner wrote about the upcoming movie in an Instagram post, saying, “God has blessed my life again by allowing me to work alongside these actors. I admire them and I feel so honored to share my next Christmas film with them. This one is very special to me. Thank you to the entire cast and crew of this film. I sincerely mean it when I say it has been one of the best working environments of my entire career.”

Movieguide® previously reported on how Wagner balances work and home life:

Jill Wagner explained how she balances working as a full-time actress while remaining connected to her family and being a good mom to her daughters.

“I don’t have it figured out, you know. I can only say this. If I was to give a little piece of advice, it would be based on what I do in my own world with my own family,” Wagner said in a video for Great American Community. “It is hard because I have a career that takes me away—not that I don’t take my family with me, but sometimes…they’re not able to come with me. So how do I manage that?”

“I try my best I can. We try the best we can,” she continued. “You know, everything doesn’t have to be perfect. But we do things like, let’s talk every day, let’s try not to let it be a couple of weeks without seeing each other.”

When she’s able to spend time with her family, Wagner emphasizes quality time, ensuring she is present to make the most of the moments they have together.

“I just have to try to remember that when I talk to them I need to be present. And I think that even if you are with your children or your husband or wife or loved one, when you are with that person, that you really need to take that time to like focus on them,” she explained. “If it’s with your kids, take that time to play with them, get down on the floor with them if they’re little; if they’re grown up, have a conversation about something, you know, laugh. Don’t be on the phone, don’t be distracted. Really give that person one hundred percent of that five minutes that you may have to spend with them.”
