Marvel has paid tribute to the late MF DOOM in its first DOOM comic since 2000.

Revolving around the lead character Doctor Doom — whose distinctive mask DOOM is noted for wearing — the comic's opening page nods to MF DOOM’s and Madlib’s 2004 collaborative track ‘Accordion' ("Living on borrowed time / the clock ticks faster...”), as pointed out on Reddit.

According to the hidden.ny Instagram page, this is the first DOOM issue since DOOM's passing.

DOOM, aka Dumile Daniel Thompson, died aged 49 on 31st October 2020 at St. James' University Hospital in Leeds after experiencing a condition known as angioedema, a rare and severe reaction to blood pressure medication.

Last July, Leeds Hospital issued a public apology in response to "a number of concerns" raised at an inquest, acknowledging that there were "missed opportunities" during his treatment.

DOOM was part of the hip-hop duo Madvillain alongside Madlib. Back in 2021, it was revealed that the long-anticipated sequel to MF DOOM and Madlib's 2004 album 'Madvillainy' was "85% done" at the time of DOOM's death.

A new book from journalist S. H. Fernando JR, aka SKIZ, titled The Chronicles of DOOM: Unraveling Rap’s Masked Iconoclast, is due to be published by Faber in November.
