The cleanest beach in the world is Greek!

According to the American travel agency FloridaPanhandle, Prassa Beach on Kimolos is the cleanest beach in the world.

Through millions of publicly available traveller reviews of beaches in the US and around the world, the agency created a list of the world's 50 best beaches, with Prassa Beach rising to the top spot.

According to Tripadvisor reviews, Prassa Beach in Kimolos has the clearest waters—43.56% report its clear waters.

A Brazilian traveller summarised in her review of Prassa Beach: "Turquoise clear water, golden sand, beautiful beach. Very calm waters, perfect for families."

“Stretching on for [8,497 miles], the Greek coastline is the longest in the Mediterranean Basin, a sea famous for its crystal-clear waters and rich blue hue,” the team shared in the findings.

“It’s no wonder, then, that the majority of the world’s top beaches for clear water are located in Greece, led by Prassa Beach on the island of Kimolos, for which 43.56 percent of publicly available traveller reviews mention the phrase ‘clear water.'”

With a length of 13,676 kilometres, the Greek coastline is home to eight of the top ten beaches in the world with the clearest waters.

Another Greek beach in the top ten is the beach of Agios Dimitrios (37.82% of publicly available traveller reviews) on the island of Alonissos. It is located in the Aegean Sea and is just a breath away from Skopelos, an island made world-famous by the first Mamma Mia movie.

Spain is next

The second cleanest beach in the world is in Spain.

Calo Des Moro in Palma de Mallorca (36.89% of publicly available traveller reviews mention its clear waters) is popular with tourists: "It is PARADISE, but it is not a place to actually relax, I'd say. Take amazing pictures, enjoy the crystal clear water and by 10, go somewhere else. I'm not saying this for you to avoid the place at all, you SHOULD GO, but early."

Cala Brandinchi in Italy's Capo Coda Cavallo is also listed among the cleanest beaches in the Mediterranean (36.14% of reviews): "Picturesque water going from a yellow to green to aqua to a deep blue. So clear you can see for meters."
