Karl-Anthony Towns' 2019 Promise Resurfaces After Game 7 Nuggets Takedown
The hard work and patience are paying off for Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns. For the first time in 20 years, the Timberwolves are set to play in the Western Conference Finals after they ended the NBA title reign of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in a 98-90 Game 7 win on the road Sunday night.
Shortly after the Timberwolves' huge win, a 2019 post on X (formerly Twitter) by KAT has fans buzzing online.
"Minny deserves better. I plan to give it to them," the former Kentucky Wildcats star center posted in June of 2019. Nearly five full years later, Towns helped the Timberwolves reach the conference finals.
In Game 7 of the Nuggets series, Towns dropped 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds plus two assists, two steals, and a block in 39 minutes of floor duty. He stepped up for Minnesota when the team needed him to, especially with Anthony Edwards having an inefficient night on offense.
Here are some of the reactions to KAT's promise in 2019:
"And so he did. What a game 7 by KAT. When they needed him the most (while ANT was waiting for the 4th qtr kill)."
"HE NEVER GAVE UP ON US"
"KAT is literally the best."
"this was five years ago. that man @KarlTowns kept his promise. career defining performances in the two biggest games of his life. "
"Man I am just so happy for KAT rn. He deserves this."
"KAT deserves his flowers, He played great tonight and all playoffs. Not the biggest box scores but played winning basketball. defended is ass off. He's done nothing but say he wants to win here since the day he was drafted."
