Competition: Serie B play-offs

Market: Sampdoria double chance

Odds: 4/6 @ BetUS

With the Serie B play-offs getting underway on Friday night, Palermo will welcome Sampdoria to the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Starting with the hosts, while Palermo might have signed off their regular-season adventure with a 1-0 victory away at Sudtirol last weekend, the Eagles have struggled to find any kind of stability since opening the New Year. Opening May with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Spezia, Michele Mignani’s men have remarkably collected just a single victory from any of their previous nine Serie B appearances – a run that stems all the way back to March 10th. Likewise, failing to collect consecutive second-tier victories since the middle of February, the former Bari boss will also have a major headache over his side’s glaring struggles on home soil. Including a 2-1 defeat against Reggiana on April 27th, Palermo are without a win from any of their last six straight showdowns at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. Recording just a sole clean sheet on home soil over the past three months, Mignani’s side should be bracing themselves for a tough play-off opener this weekend.

As for the visitors, although Sampdoria might have come under a huge amount os scrutiny last year as they lost their Serie A status, the Blucerchiati have their sights firmly set on clinching an immediate top-flight return. Signing off their regular-season adventure with a routine 3-1 romp away at Catanzaro, Andrea Pirlo’s men should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Opening May with a 1-0 win against Lecco, the former Juventus icon has seen his squad win all of their previous three appearances on the bounce. Smelling the chance to make another statement here, Sampdoria have suffered just a single defeat from any of their last 11 straight Serie B outings – a purple patch that stems all the way back to February 27th. Despite being tipped as a real underdog on Friday night, Pirlo’s side will be excited by a rugged record at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. In fact, the Blucerchiati have lost just one of their previous four trips to Palermo.

Bet: Sampdoria double chance against Palermo 4/6 for Friday’s Serie B play-off tie @ BetUS
