Shaquille O'Neal rips Shannon Sharpe after Nikola Jokic MVP interview

- by

Shaquille O’Neal’s awkward interview with Nikola Jokic went viral for all the wrong reasons — he told the now-three-time MVP and said he thought Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should have won. Jokic took it in stride, but it wasn’t the best. Shannon Sharpe proceeded to go in on Shaq on The Nightcap podcast, talking all about how O’Neal was envious of a big man getting that many MVPs and discussing why the former center isn’t in the GOAT conversation. That triggered O’Neal, who took to Instagram with a lengthy rebuttal, and WHEW. Shaquille O’Neal on Shannon Sharpe: “You took me sticking up @shai ask jealousy of Joker. shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. so here’s some click bait for you. if you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession , then you can’t speak on Me.

Shaq’s statement to Joker he felt Shai deserved mvp is farcical. Prior to playoffs, guaranteed Shaq couldn’t have picked Shai out of an OKC starting lineup. How many times did Shaq actually see Shai play this season? Three? If that? And certainly not the whole game. I’m wit Perk! – 2:22 PM

More on this storyline

Brandon Jennings: “Shai got robbed though for sure. He got robbed; he got snubbed, and it’s going to be hard for him to try to get it next year because they’re pumping in Anthony Edwards and all these other young players. His chance, if he was going to get his chance, was this year.” -via YouTube / May 10, 2024
Shaquille O’Neal on Shannon Sharpe: “Don’t forget i know what you did to get were you at. me jealous, sounds like you jealous. i kno you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. we don’t believe you. you need more people and in case you forgot. 4 rings three finals Mvp top 50 and top 75. google me. and to b quite frank all this new success you got, you still under me. u don’t kno my work ethic. but according i work less than you but im worth more than you. make it make sense. love you to. if you need help making money it’s better ways than gossiping. i’m to old for this shit love always the most dominant big man ever who never took it serious. remember i don’t know you. and in the words of @skipbayless im better than you. #g14classification i have it, you don’t, not in my profession. and your goat debate , never wanted to be the goat i wanted to be who you should greet me as THE MOST DOMINANT EVER. #theapexpredator” -via Instagram / May 10, 2024
Draymond Green: “Jokic won his third MVP in his fourth season, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the runner-up. Was it the right decision? Jokic is undeniably great, but the way Shai finished the season, particularly with the race for the number one seed, was impressive. It seemed to matter when Jokic secured the top seed, but not as much when Shai did. While I’m not saying Shai should have won, I believe the voting should have been closer. Many voters make up their minds too early, which is difficult to change. Shai was a victim of this bias, but he’s been steadily improving and will continue to grow. Congratulations to Jokic—what he does to opposing defenses is extraordinary and unprecedented. He fully deserves the recognition.” -via YouTube / May 10, 2024
