Because it theorised that all of aqua's attack are converted to holy water type damage. Her first fight was with giant toads that are immune to water type attacks , second with crocodiles that are also immune. Then slime that have high resistance to water type and so on .

Aqua canonically had enough stats to be a top tier physical fighter class as well. She regularly wins bar fights against other drunk adventurers and in the anime she killed Hans with a physical attack. For context, Konosuba slimes do not take damage from punches. She literally outhaxxed him.
The only reason why she's "trash" is because she insists on punching toads when she can logistically kill them by just using a sword as well because they're immune to all water element attacks.
So she's just dumb?
Fighting Aqua is like a medieval peasant going up against a 21st-century battle tank… with no one inside it.

Aqua can literally do more damage than Megumin by summoning a tidal wave of water and then have enough mana left over to do it again a hundred times.
But it’s like if you give a party girl that has never played an rpg a game console with a high leveled character and tell her to play. She won’t know what to do properly even if she has all the power to do it.
Aqua is not only really dumb, she is just not built to be a warrior or adventurer lol

She has maxed out stats(mostly), she's probably one of the strongest characters in the series. Unfortunately she's an idiot.
She's a goddess, have top tier stats (well…), have some damaging spells (both directly for undead/demons and indirectly with water at least) and (almost?) infinite mana.
If she didn't regularly forget what she is, she'd be unstoppable.
