Altoona, Central get strong pitching in wins

DuBOIS — Tanner Stroup pitched four innings and allowed just one hit and struck out seven as Altoona defeated DuBois, 12-1, in high school baseball on Friday.

Andrew Berkheimer drove in three runs with a double, and Eric McAllister, Aaron Smearman and Gavin Albright each had two RBIs.

Dante LaRocco had three hits and scored three times for the Mountain Lions, who improved to 11-8.

JOHNSTOWN — Mason Byler didn’t allow an earned run in six innings of work, picking up the victory in a 7-3 Central win over Bishop McCort at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point in high school baseball.

Griffin Snowberger had three hits, and Baron Dionis, Troy McNichol and Britton Marko each had two hits as the Scarlet Dragons improved to 14-6.
