Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation took the anime world by storm when the first season aired with its immersive storyline and richly developed and well-fleshed characters. Renowned as one of the best isekai anime of all time, it follows the story of a man reincarnated into the body of a boy in another world.

From the enigmatic protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat, to the intriguing cast of leading and supporting characters, fans have become deeply invested in the journeys and personal growth that they undergo. The anime's first season introduces characters like Roxy, Rudeus’ magic teacher who inspired him to open up to the world, and Sylphiette, Rudeus’ first friend and student. Updated May 8, 2024, by Emedo Destiny: The emergence of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation marked a resurgence of the isekai genre, even though it debuted only a few years after the famous slimed isekai series. Renowned for its extensive and alluring world-building and visual appeal, the series stands out even more due to its stellar cast of characters and their richly detailed lives and relationships. With the series' third season already airing, new faces have joined the fray on Rudeus's never-ending adventure, some of whom have not had as much screen time as the protagonist but are ultimately crucial to the story's progression. As a result, here are the series' main characters and a little more information on their adventurous lives.

K represents years in the Armored Dragon Calendar and these ages are taken from the start of the second season, which occurs at K422.

Rudeus Greyrat

Race: Human

Rudeus Greyrat is the story's main protagonist, reincarnated into a baby's body in another world after his death. He was born with an affinity for magic and huge mana reserves, performing magic just by visualizing it when other mages need to recite full chants to do so.

Due to this ability, Rudeus has several exclusive spells because he can tweak them just by changing what he thinks the spell should look like or do. His staff, the Aqua Hertia, is the most powerful magic staff in the world, amplifying his techniques and making them more terrifying.

Eris Boreas Greyrat

Race: Human

• Occupation: Adventurer

The red-haired menace, Eris Boreas, is the short-tempered second cousin of Rudeus. She was born to the Boreas noble family and is pampered as a result. Taught especially by Sword King Ghislaine, she has also displayed great potential in the Sword God Style, surpassing her master later.

Like all tsundere characters, she first appears to hate Rudeus but eventually falls in love with him. After the Teleport Event, she and Rudeus were forced to undergo character growth and development while stranded on the Demon Continent, braving several near-death experiences together.

Paul Greyrat

Race: Human

• Occupation: Adventurer, Swordsman

Paul Greyrat is the husband of Zenith Greyrat and the father to Rudeus. His height is unknown, but he is one of the taller characters in Mushoku Tensei. He is a promiscuous man who could not control his urges even after marriage, resulting in him impregnating their maid.

Before the story's events, he was an adventurer with Advanced-Level skills in Water, North, and Sword God styles. Before the Teleport Event, he lived a rather peaceful life with his family as the chief of Buena village. After the event, he becomes depressed because his loved ones are missing.

Zenith Greyrat

Race: Human

• Strongest Ability: Telepathy
• Occupation: Former Adventurer

The beautiful Zenith Greyrat is the mother of Rudeus and Norn Greyrat and the wife of Paul. Just like Paul, she was born into a noble family in the Holy Country of Millis but eventually ran away to become an adventurer. She eventually became a member of Paul’s party called Fangs of The Black Wolf; other members include Ghislaine Dedoldia and Elinalise Dragonroad.

Due to her Intermediate Level knowledge of Healing Magic, she was the party’s healer. Following the Teleport Incident, she was teleported to the Teleportation Labyrinth, where she was trapped in a Magic Crystal, which made her the Miko of Telepathy.

Lilia Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Intermediate Water God Style Swordsmanship
• Occupation: Maid / Housekeeper

Initially the maid of the Greyrat House, she became Paul’s second wife after she was impregnated by him, much to Zenith’s displeasure originally, but due to Rudeus’ convincing statements, she was able to accept her. She first met Paul at a dojo, where they were both learning swordsmanship.

After a crippling injury, she has no choice but to leave the princess guard, with Paul offering her a chance to earn a living by becoming his family’s maid. She is devoted and faithful to Paul and his family, especially Rudeus, performing her duties diligently.

Ghislaine Dedoldia

Race: Beast

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Sword King
• Occupation: Adventurer, Swordswoman

The scantily clad Ghislaine is the beast race's strongest warrior, achieving the level of Sword King. She had been a meathead from a young age, causing trouble for her father, Gustav, the former chief of the Doldia Village. Just like Paul and Zenith, she also ran away before being taken in by Gal Farion, the man who would become Sword God, mainly due to her aggressiveness and potential in the Sword God style.

She became a Sword Saint and joined Paul’s party as a melee fighter. Her loyalty to the Boreas family stems from the fact that they saved her from starvation and death by taking her in to tutor Eris and serve as their bodyguard.

Sylphiette

Race: Elf / Human / Beast Hybr

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Voiceless Incantation
• Occupation: Bodyguard

Sylphiette, also known as Fitts, is a girl who is part human, beast, and elf. As far as friends go, she became Rudeus’ first after he saved her from a group of bullies and taught her to use magic. She also picked up voiceless incantations from him, making her one of the most promising characters in the series.

The Teleport Incident took her to the land of Asura, where she saved Princess Ariel from a Terminate Boar. This led to her becoming one of Princess Ariel’s bodyguards, protecting her from assassination attempts. Eventually, they leave the Silver Palace in Asura to study at the Ranoa Magic Academy.

Roxy Migurdia

Race: Migurd

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Chant Omission
• Occupation: Teacher, Adventurer

Roxy is a member of the Migurd clan of the Demon race. She left her family and village due to her inability to use telepathy, making her an outcast. When being an adventurer could not cut it, She decided to attend the Ranoa Magic Academy, where she became a Water Saint. After graduation, she resorted to becoming a traveling magic tutor, eventually landing on Rudeus’ doorstep in the Asura Kingdom and becoming his teacher.

She is a Water King class mage, passing her strongest abilities to Rudeus. Following the Teleport Incident, she helps Paul to search for his missing family members.

Human God

Race: Human

• Gender: Male
• Strongest Ability: Future Sight
• Occupation: N/A

The Human God initially appears as a supporting character, but he eventually becomes one of the main characters in the series. Offering Rudeus advice when he enters a sleep-like state, Human God has guided him through numerous life-changing decisions. He is the only “God” not listed among the Seven Great Powers, while also hated by Orsted for some reason, casting some doubt on his true nature.

All humans automatically trust him except those from that world, like Rudeus and his descendants, and he can speak to them in their dreams while reading their minds and uncovering whatever secrets they might hold. Being the oldest in the world means he has a vast knowledge of magic and history.

Ruijerd Superdia

Race: Demon (Superd)

• Strongest Ability: Stealth Master
• Occupation: Adventurer, Tribe Ambassador

Ruijerd is a member of the feared Superd clan of the Demon race. Due to his clan's actions in the Laplace wars and the spears they wield, they are cursed to be feared by the populace. Initially believed to be cold-hearted, Ruijerd can be very caring, especially towards children, since he lost his son at a tender age.

His strong moral compass is also one of his best qualities. Rudeus and Eris owe most of their successful outings to his constant protection and training. His devotion and dedication to Rudeus and Eris have made him a fan-favorite character in this series.

Dragon God Orsted

Race: Dragon / Human Hybrid

• Strongest Ability: Memory Recreation
• Occupation: 100th Dragon God

Orsted is the name of the current Dragon God, one of the Seven Great Powers of the world and the arch nemesis of the Human God and Rudeus by extension. After the true nature of the Human God is revealed, he becomes one of Rudeus’ numerous allies.

As the strongest member of the Dragon race, he also possesses the curse that makes every living being fear him. As a result, he primarily operated as a lone wolf till Nanahoshi joined him. He is, without a doubt, the strongest warrior in the show, mastering every form of magic and sword style at God level.

Kishirika Kishirisu

Race: Demon Demigod

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Immortality
• Occupation: Demon Empress

The Demon Empress’ name echoes throughout history as one of the oldest and most influential characters in this show, with the ability to give people Demon Eyes. She stood at the pinnacle of the Demon Clan for a long time, spearheading the great Human-Demon War, where she was quickly defeated and killed. As a member of the Immortal Demon clan, she is reincarnated whenever she is killed, with her last reincarnation in K418.

After her last reincarnation, she looks childlike and spends most of her time wandering the streets and drinking in bars. As a result, people rarely believe she was the once great Demon Empress.

Zanoba Shirone

Race: Human

• Strongest Ability: Immense physical strength
• Occupation: Prince, Student

Zanoba Shirone, the former prince of the Shirone Kingdom, is one of the extremely rare Miko in the series. Introduced initially as a minor character, Zanoba quickly takes a prominent role when he joins the other main characters at Ranoa Magic Academy and befriends them. He was influential in helping Rudeus and Eris to rescue Lilia and Aisha Greyrat.

He is one of the series's most intelligent characters, helping Rudeus invent magic tools. However, it is usually overshadowed by his superhuman strength, which can enable him to go toe-to-toe with a Demon King.

Elinalise Dragonroad

Race: Elf

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Elementary Level Magic
• Occupation: Adventurer, Student

Elinalise is an elf who was also part of Paul’s party. She was found inside a Magic Crystal and cursed by it to never be sexually satisfied. It is said that she could die if she does not have intercourse within a specific time limit, with the sperm of the men fertilizing the magic crystals inside her.

With no memories of who she once was and the eventual death of her husband, she traveled the land working as a prostitute before becoming an adventurer. She searches for Paul’s family alongside Roxy after the Teleport Event before eventually enrolling in the Ranoa Magic Academy and becoming a more prominent character.

Ariel Asura

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Elementary Level Magic
• Occupation: Queen of Asura Kingdom

Princess Ariel Asura is the second princess and one of two significant heirs to the throne of the Asura Kingdom. As a result of that, she was the target of so many assassination attempts. She is said to be the most beautiful woman who ever lived.

Initially a manipulative and sadistic person, the introduction of Sylphiette into her life as a bodyguard changed her outlook on life and her personality. They enroll in the Ranoa Magic Academy to curb the unending assassination attempts, hoping to return to claim the Asura throne after garnering experience and allies.

Norn Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Intermediate Sword God Style Swordsmanship
• Occupation: Student Council President

The second child of Paul and Zenith Greyrat, Norn is Rudeus's younger sibling and half-sister to Aisha. Due to the circumstances surrounding her childhood, Norn initially had a bad relationship with her brother, as she is very close to and protective of her father, who is not always in agreement with her brother.

Much like Aisha, Norn developed a severe inferiority complex due to always being compared to her other siblings due to their achievements. Despite her self-esteem issues, Norn is relatively independent and capable of doing things on her own. She eventually outgrows her esteem problems when she finally realizes that her siblings love her.

Cliff Grimoire

Race: Human / Halfling Hybrid

• Gender: Male
• Strongest Ability: Advanced Level Attack Magic
• Occupation: Adventurer, Student

Cliff Grimoire, the grandson of Milis Pope, is one of Rudeus's classmates at the Ranoa Magic Academy. Extremely obnoxious and arrogant, Cliff is rather condescending to people he perceives to be below his level.

However, beyond his prideful demeanor, he is rather diligent when trying to improve himself and is loyal to his loved ones and friends. More than anything, Cliff is very conscientious and believes very highly in upholding his code of honor, and he rarely breaks his word except for the most extreme situations.

Demon King Badigadi

Race: Demon

• Gender: Male
• Strongest Ability: Immortality
• Occupation: Demon Lord

The Demon King Badigadi, better known as Badigadi the Immortal, is a member of the Immortal Demon Clan and the former Fighting God. Unusually carefree, Badigadi likes to laugh a lot and loves fighting.

He even goes as far as to describe his ideal life as endless wandering and dueling strong men. He is a relatively simple individual. However, he holds a high premium on favors, as he would repay any act of kindness or any favor done to him to the best of his abilities. Badigadi is currently the fiance to Kirishika Kishirisu.

Aisha Greyrat

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Elementary Level Magic
• Occupation: Adviser, Maid

Born to Paul and Lilia Greyrat, Aisha is the first illegitimate child of the Greyrat family. Raised by her mother in servitude to her brother, Rudeus, whom she had never met until well after her childhood.

Unlike most children her age, Aisha is much more composed and manipulative due to her mother's upbringing. Simultaneously, Aisha has an inferiority complex due to being an illegitimate child, as she believes she is not as loved as her step-sister, Norn, causing her to be very competitive for attention.

Nanahoshi Shizuka

Race: Human

• Gender: Female
• Strongest Ability: Summoning Magic
• Occupation: Student

Nanahoshi Shizuka is one of the few people saved from the truck accident in his previous life before reincarnating as Rudeus Greyrat. Also known as the Silent Seven Stars, Nanahoshi was transported to Rudeus's world shortly after him, which resulted in the Teleport Incident, which led to her involvement with Orsted.

Compared to Rudeus, Nanahoshi would prefer to go back home rather than remain in the Human World, which makes her less concerned about the activities around her, unattached and alone most of the time.
