that's 4.33.
(...unfortunately listening to this also created the terror of nostalgia.)
  1:32am
rw:

↳ coelacanth∅ @1:28
Wikipedia: 4′33″ is a modernist composition by American experimental composer John Cage. It was composed in 1952 for any instrument or combination of instruments; the score instructs performers not to play their instruments throughout the three movements. It is divided into three movements, lasting 30 seconds, two minutes and 23 seconds, and one minute and 40 seconds, respectively,[d] although Cage later stated that the movements' durations can be determined by the musician. As indicated by the title, the composition lasts four minutes and 33 seconds and is marked by a period of silence, although ambient sounds contribute to the performance.

i know it's in the first sentence! and Steve Reich is incorrectly called a "minimalist".
there's a lot of falsehoods within wikipedia, amidst the invaluable wealth of information.
to call it a compostition is semantics. just a clever way to describe it. it is not *performed* for an audience. it's not performed; it's a concept.
i'd like to correct that wikipedia entree but i can't give my time to wikipedia, despite their regular requests to get involved.
...and of course it's an important piece. no doubt about that!

yes, but again, semantics (if i'm using that word correctly!) but not *his* piece of music. not *his* composition.

Even just for putting sound in a different frame, I like Roaratorio or Empty Words much better

Okay, think about a sculpture. Maybe it’s made of shiny stainless steel. The reflections and shadows and play of light on the sculpture are an important element, but it’s still a sculpture. Just as in 4’33"

no aural or visual creativity involved; only an idea. something to make people think. (like 4.33)

They missed the point. There’s no such thing as silence. What they thought was silence, because they didn’t know how to listen, was full of accidental sounds. You could hear the wind stirring outside during the first movement. During the second, raindrops began pattering the roof, and during the third the people themselves made all kinds of interesting sounds as they talked or walked out.
