Sophie Turner discusses split from Joe Jonas in Vogue. What to know about former Florida residents

In the surge of celebrity divorces in 2023, many might recall the end of "Jophie."

The news of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner's divorce broke the internet back in September when it was revealed the Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from the "Game of Thrones" actress in Florida's Miami-Dade County court.

Turner is now opening up in an interview with British Vogue magazine, discussing the public's reaction to her split, which she called "the worst few days of my life."

In the piece, she also discussed becoming a mother to the pair's two daughters in her 20s and co-parenting. Despite the highly publicized nature of their split, she said she is looking forward to the future with Jonas.

"I'm unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children. They're the victims in all of this. But I think we're doing the best we can," Turner told the magazine. "I'm confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that's all that I can ask for."

What did Sophie Turner say about Joe Jonas in Vogue?

Turner spoke to British Vogue about the legal battle between her and Jonas, who she sued back in 2023 for the return of their daughters to England.

"There were some days that I didn't know if I was going to make it. I would call my lawyer saying, 'I can't do this. I just can't.' I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself. And then, finally, after two weeks of me being in a rut, she reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for," Turner said.

Jonas filed for divorce from Turner on Sept. 5, 2023. According to Turner's lawsuit against Jonas, she found out about the divorce through the media.

The following day, the couple spoke out in a joint statement with posts to both of their Instagram accounts: "After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," they wrote. "There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."

The "Game of Thrones" star also opened up about the "mom guilt" she felt in the midst of tabloid reports, writing she was an absentee mom.

"I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn't leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish 'Joan,'" Turner told Vogue, referring to her forthcoming British crime series.

"It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother – mum guilt is so real! I just kept having to say to myself, 'None of this is true. You are a good mum and you've never been a partier.'"

When did Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner move to Miami, Florida?

According to People Magazine, Jonas and Turner moved to their $11 million Miami mansion shortly after selling their Los Angeles home in September 2021.

Speaking to Architectural Digest about the property in 2022, Sophie and Joe's interior designer Sarah Ivory said that they had wanted to remodel the space with a "classic '70s meets modern tropicalism" feel, with "color, lots of plants." It has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, along with a 94-foot private dock with direct access to the bay and ocean, the story states.

Turner later told Elle UK that while she liked Miami, she would like to return in England in the future: "We're very lucky to live in Miami. We have good weather and live by the water," she shared. "I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. And also for my daughter – I would love her to get the education and school life that I was so lucky to have. England would ideally be the final destination, but [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing."

Turner also addressed her newfound friendship with Taylor Swift. The two were in New York City on Sept. 18 on their way to dine at Italian restaurant Via Carota, weeks after the divorce announcement.

Turner highlighted the support she received from Swift.

"Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year," Turner told Vogue. "I've never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me and provided us with a home and a safe space. She really has a heart of gold."
