Elon Musk To Take On OTT Giants; Invites Movie Makers And Podcasters To Earn By Posting On X

Elon Musk’s sister, Tosca Musk, the co-founder and CEO of OTT Passionflix, shared one of the movies from her production, Gabriel’s Inferno, on X. The film-maker remarked that users are enjoying the slow-burn movie on the platform. Reacting to Tosca’s post, Elon invited creators to post their movies, TV series, and podcasts on the X and monetize the same by turning on the subscription service.

Seems like Musk is taking on OTT giants Netflix, Prime, and others with his vision of an integrated Everything X app assisted by Grok AI. Can someone remind the billionaire to first get rid of the pirated movies on X that is plaguing the platform?

One user suggested that the platform needs an easily searchable library for videos and Spaces. Another user suggested adding features like watchlist, watch later, etc. to boost such a service. Yet another user suggested ‘automatic transcription’ for the same, like YouTube did for a while. “Add recommendations too,” chipped in another contributor.

Meanwhile, users on X, while welcoming the move, reminded Musk that the platform’s subscription is basically broken. Some users lamented that their subscription abruptly disappeared, even as subscribers continued to send money. Others expressed their displeasure over not being granted a subscription for over a year.
