First-look: Babies musical releases cast photos & video ahead of its The Other Palace run

New musical Babies has released new images and video ahead of the show’s run at The Other Palace theatre this month.

Babies will play a 6 week season at The Other Palace from 31 May to 14 July 2024.

As already announced, the cast will star Heartstopper’s Bradley Riches (Celebrity Big Brother) as Toby, alongside Ashley Goh (Fury and Elysium) as Alex, Jaina Brock-Patel (Six) as Becky, Lauren Conroy (Bear Snores On) as Jasmine, Lucy Carter (Babies) as Lulu, Max Mulrenan as Ben, Viola Maisey as Grace, Zoe Athena (The Trials) as Leah, and Nathan Johnston (The Voice Kids) as Jacob.

The cast also includes Grace Towning as cover Leah/Grace/Becky, Morgan Phillips (Babies) as alternate Toby, cover Jacob/Ben, and Rowan MacPherson as cover Jasmine/Alex/Lulu.

Babies is billed as a fresh, heart-wrenching musical about identity, friendship and growing up.

After a rise in pregnancies among the year above, the school’s sex education department are compelled to take action. Fuelled by a blistering pop-rock score, Babies follows nine classmates as they take on their most important school project yet: keeping a fake baby alive for an entire week. As the pressures of teenage life collide with the demands of parenting, the students are forced to ask themselves: what is it I really want? who is it I really want to be?

The show boasts music and lyrics by Jack Godfrey, writer of 42 Balloons, which is currently wowing audiences in Manchester; and a book by Martha Geelan, who also directs.

A concert production of Babies sold-out the West End’s Lyric Theatre in November 2023.

The creative team also includes Joe Beighton (Orchestrations, Vocal Arrangements & Music Supervisor), Alexzandra Sarmiento (Choreographer), Jasmine Swan (Set and Costume Designer), Paul Gatehouse (Sound Designer), Will Hayman (Lighting Designer), Lauren Hopkinson (Musical Director) Harry Blumenau CGD CDA (Casting Director), Laura Seaborn (Casting Associate), Molly Stacey (Associate Director), Rachel Luff (Associate Lighting Designer), Martyn Sands (Production Manager), Jamie Owens (Props Supervisor) and Sheree Paton (Costume Supervisor).

The show is produced by Crossroads Live (The Bodyguard, Annie, Chicago, Cats, The Drifters Girl) and theatre development company Indigo Productions.
