Edwina L. Burke 1960-2024

CANFIELD — Dr. Edwina Lynn Burke, 63, known for her unwavering kindness and infectious warmth, daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte Burke, was born Aug. 23, 1960, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, in Cleveland, surrounded by her loving family.

Edwina began by graduating from Manasquan High School in 1978. She pursued dental hygiene at Youngstown State University, where she met her future husband, Gary. She later earned her dental medicine doctorate at The Ohio State University in 1992. She opened up her own practice, where she spent years caring for those in her community of Youngstown.

She was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Gary Dobrindt, on Sept. 18, 1993, in Manasquan, New Jersey. Edwina and Gary settled into their life in Canfield and the union was blessed with their son, Tyler Dobrindt.

In addition to her family and career, Edwina was an active volunteer of St. Michael Parish and the Canfield School system.

Edwina also found her lifelong hobbies in rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes football team and going on breathtaking hiking trips with her beloved friends. Edwina made a profound impact on all she came in contact with, and as one of her friends rightly said, “All my best life experiences were because of Edwina Burke.”

Edwina is survived by her loving husband, Gary; and her devoted son, Tyler. She is also survived by her eight brothers and their wives: Tim and Lynn, Todd and Katie, Dan and Mary, Sean and Margot, Wayne and Cheryl, Glenn and Pam, Seamus and Ilisa, Toby and Laura. Additionally, she leaves behind countless nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.
