Hi, we need a cab at 4.00 pm, can we just open the bolt or Uber app to find one in the middle of the night? Or are the drivers sleeping and do we need to make a reservation?
Taxi services in Dublin operate 24 hours a day. Using Uber or Bolt in Ireland will just get you a regular taxi. FREENOW is a popular taxi app with locals. You can pre-book a taxi yourself or, if there are reception services at your accommodation, you can ask them to book one for you.
4am is the middle of the night, 4pm as you've put in your post is the middle of the afternoon. You'll need to be clear about the time if booking a taxi.
Edited: 19 May 2024, 09:23all as above ! i would also point out that uber and bolt are not very common in Ireland as our taxi serviceis regulated, and if a taxi signs up to one ot those, it costs the driver more which cannot be added to the fare. so yes, your accommodation will book one for you, or else use freenow.
As Tapl says 'Taxi services in Dublin operate 24 hours a day'.
'Using Uber or Bolt (which are quite common with a lot of people) in Ireland will just get you a regular taxi'.
'FREENOW (which is what I use regularly) is a popular taxi app with locals'.
So, in essence, regardless of the time you require a taxi, all 3 services/apps are available for you to use.
That's a particularly busy time with lots of folk heading home from a night out and others heading out for the day.
As above, book in advance.
The taxi apps such as Uber and Freenow are commonly used. I would pre-book.
But book with someone that actually takes a booking. Some of these apps will accept a "booking", but they only out it out to taxis close to the actual time, so that as a reservation it is almost useless.
