share your nesting checklist!
i’m so anxious lately feeling i’m forgetting something to do! so far i have clean the house, clean the car, wash the car seat cover (been sitting from first born), pack hospital bag, wash bottles & pump parts, get bassinet set up. just wanting to see what’s on others lists! i’m at that awkward phase where i feel like i shouldn’t do any of that yet because i still have 6 more weeks lol
I’m stealing your list lol! We’re in the process of moving so I have baby stuff spread out at three different houses and I feel so discombobulated. I know everything will get done but I honestly forgot about washing all the things
ahh i bet! that would stress me out for sure, you’ll get it done! i just try to remember that im not dead once she’s born lol i can still do stuff as it pops up/needs done just need to get the crucial things checked off to make those first few weeks easier! as long as they have diapers, a few outfits, a car seat, and place to sleep you’re good to go
I've got most stuff done but here are a few things I still need/want to do: clean stroller, sterilize bottles and pacifiers, install car seat, move nursery chair from son's room into our bedroom, general cleaning around the house and IF i have time and energy I'd like to tidy and declutter some areas in the house that could benefit from it but it's not super high on my priority list lol
yess! i de cluttered all of the drawers and closets already. mainly just wanting to get a little closer to birth to deep clean the house so i don’t have to do it twice it would definitely need done again within 6 weeks
we will be moving later this year so it would be nice to declutter all the closets and drawers but we'll see if I have the energy lol. I did a few already. But same on the deep cleaning. I have at most 5 weeks left before baby comes, maybe less but if I deep clean now it will have to be done again soon
My baby is coming Friday and I haven’t sterilized anything! I’m such a slacker. All the bedding for the bassinet is cleaned, I also cleaned the bouncer and swing, his clothes are washed and that’s about it. I’m planning on putting the car seat in Friday since I don’t have to be at the hospital until 2:30pm. I do, however, have a nice checklist of things I need to get done before my aunt comes over to stay with my kids, it’s just cleaning the house mostly and making sure we have everything that the kids will need since I’m having a c-section and should be gone for at least 3 days. I’m feeling like I’m not ready, but also ready, it’s weird
oo I wanna trade list with you. we have to clean out the basement, bring everything from upstairs to the basement, setup the nursery- including furniture and decorations, lotsss of Kathy laundry for me and baby, clean my bedroom and make space for his bassinet, then clear out and put away all of the baby toys and accessories and STUFF that we have sitting in boxes in the living room. sooo much to do that I can't even get myself to start, and my partner just follows my lead
The only extra thing I’ve done that I don’t see in your list is set up my postpartum “station” in my living room. Once the first 2 weeks are up and I’m moving around more, I’ll probably be spending some time in my living room downstairs and to avoid going back and forth, I have a cart full of things for me and baby, and I have some vagina friendly things in our downstairs bathroom as well. Other than that, that’s it! Her nursery isn’t even really done in terms of decor because she’s not gonna be in there for the first few months of life, so I wasn’t hard pressed about it. It’s just organized.
OH! Also washed all her stuff and put it in her dresser.
I also have a “postpartum vagina” friendly station in my bathroom too. I’m a FTM so I just took some pointers from Pinterest and Google
I’ve been chipping away at my nesting list the last few weeks including finishing the nursery renovation (we refinished two bedrooms, like down to the studs, replaced insulation & drywall, paint and new flooring, etc which was a ton of work! We prioritized the nursery which is done now but still need to finish the second bedroom which will become our home office).
Other nesting things I want to do:
- clean out our mudroom wardrobes and put the winter coats & boots down in the basement so we have more room for summer stuff & baby gear
- clean out (and maybe repaint?) the front entry closet, it’s been on my to do list forever so might as well do it now while I have the nesting urge!
- Reorganize our linen closet so we have better use of space. Its a big closet and stuff just gets lots so I want to get some bins to organize it better
- Clear out the spare bedroom, it’s currently housing all the home office furniture while we finish the room renovation but it’s stressing me out that everything is just piled in there. I want all my rooms to feel put back together.
I have 3 weeks as long as I don't go into labor early and this is my list.
-Finish freezer meals
-Put last coat of paint on bathroom
-Buy baby bouncer
-Stock kitchen and pantry
-Bring breast pump out of storage and wash parts
I made a list of everything I needed to clean in each room. I went kind of detailed but not as detailed as baseboards as I can’t get on the ground as easily let alone wiping baseboards.
I pepper bedroom with bassinet and we have a shelving unit that holds the Brezza, sleepers, bottles, diapers and burp cloths, sleep sacks and blankets and pacis.
In my bathroom I’ve started the PP basket that holds pads, the adult diapers, tucks pads, spray, extra ice packs.
We didn’t set up PNP cuz we don’t now which room we will be hanging out in downstairs.
Will put batteries in everything closer to induction date.
If your pumping/nursing make a station/basket for that too!! I also make a snack basket bedside because I nurse/pump and the middle of the night hunger pangs are no joke!
I also have some stuff I wanted to get done around the house! So shampoo the carpets, groom our cats, deep clean the bathrooms etc
