It says here in the script, "do nothing until 2.3"

That's it. That's all it says.

directly quoting from someone else in another thread:

was watching a steamer go thru 2.2 again and realized something about Sparkle's role that I've seen a lot of people confused about so I figured I'd make a post. When Black Swan quizzes you on the flaw in the dream, if you incorrectly guess Sparkle dressed as Samp, BS tells you no, but also mentions Sparkle is the first one to have realized the truth and re-iterates that she's always saying "Always distinguish between reality and imagination!" In other words, Sparkle knew the big twist all the way back in 2.0. Every scene she appears in, she is guiding the rest of the cast towards the truth. She's most direct with Aventurine but the purpose of the Sampo disguise was to put TB on the right track too. In 2.2, she meets up with Robin and Sunday together and very directly tells Sunday "you think I don't know what you're planning?" and plants the seed of doubt that helps Robin wake up later. She also gives them detonators and the instruction to use them "if by some unfortunate chance, the Charmony Festival starts against all odds". Sparkle knows if the Charmony festival begins, it means the characters she guided failed and Sunday has won. Sparkle gave out detonators and everyone to push if the Charmony festival goes off. The buttons are a failsafe to destroy Penacony/the sweet dream and stop Sunday if the rest of the cast fails.

Based on this, i don't expect to see the buttons/bombs come up again in the future as their use has passed, and i think its fair to say Sparkle actually played a pretty big role guiding the cast towards the conclusion. Although her motives are still pretty unclear, whether it was just her idea of fun or she was hired specifically to do this. So to all the "sparkle did nothing/ what were the buttons for" questions, there you go. I think Black Swan's line about her at the end should probably not have been missable!

And this is why she's a Fool. Fools in media guide audiences or other characters towards the truth, just like Sampo addressing the audience after Belobog, and Aha addressing us as Fake-Akivili in the SU. Love the way the OP explained this.

Seems mostly sound. However Black Swan told us  we initially failed and the charmony festival did take place with all of Penacony was stuck within Ena's dream...so the bombs in that context don't make a lot of sense. They don't make for a good failsafe if they never had a chance to be used and if Sparkle knew everything that was going on she would have known the bombs were pointless.

Iirc she looked rathet sad/tired than wake up?

Could her motivation be as simple as breaking the shackles of Order? Since elation as a whole is a path that seeks to break the rules mentioned by the dev when they explain Hanabi kit during Livestream.

wow, I never knew she was so good with it, I almost think she actually is not involved in this conspiracy....

*sigh* Sparkle and Acheron, they think they could get away with it, but... I know what's up, don't you think I don't know your tricks, *sigh* unbelievable...
I almost fallen to her dirty deception, but I have faith, and it will never be broken

We still have the epilogue to go through, which will most likely tie up the loose ends left from the main story. In any case, she was the one responsible for sending us to A Child's Dream for example.

And even so, a Pathstrider of Elation being a red herring in the end would be totally in-character. Just wait and see.

If you watch movie 'Inception' by Leonardo Di Caprio, I think Sparkle knew the bad guy's plans and tried to undermine it by breaking dreams inside dream.

During the Swarm disaster, Aha helped Xipe defeat Ena

Sparkle here Helping the Harmony gang rise up against Order

Of course. What else could an Agent of Chaos detest the most, if not order

In the companion mission we hear that Sparkle was actually hired by somebody and Black Swan knows who but we don't ever get a reveal.

We also know that she's not a huge fan of the IPC and it seems like 2.3 is setup to be something of a standoff between the IPC and The Family.

So it might be less that Sparkle's bomb things weren't meant to deal with Ena but are there to mess up the IPC's plans although how or why remains a bit unclear.

The best reveal imo, would be if she was hired by Elio and she's following the script because Elio wrote a ridiculous script that she finds fun to play at this point in time.

Someone made an interesting theory regarding possible twist in penacony and maybe as well possible Sparkle objective in future

We don't know, she was so random and interesting but she was just another dummy in Ena's hand apparently.

It feels like Luofu ending right now. The climax leaves a lot of stuff in the air and the epilogue tries to wrap it up with varying degrees of success.

My guess is the same purpose as Luocha and Jingliu. To promote their banner, set up something and leave.
