Chad Michael Murray Chooses Roles With His Kids in Mind: ‘I’m a Family Guy’

Chad Michael Murray cares about what kind of content he puts out, especially for the sake of his kids.
The 2000s heartthrob, known for his roles in A CINDERELLA STORY and ONE TREE HILL, shared why he’s prioritized more family-friendly content in recent years.
“I would say, a lot of material, especially over the past five to eight years since my son was born, I choose because I think one of the last things you really want is for your kids to be berated in school for what their parents are doing. I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker. That’s not fair to them, so making decisions for that has been great,” the FREAKY FRIDAY actor shared.
Murray also explained how he and his wife Sarah do everything together and involve the family in his travels.
“I’m a family guy. We try to keep everything very grounded, very peaceful at home. And I love my job, but this is also my job,” he explained.
“I’m making sure that I’m there every day, that we travel together as a pack, so we don’t break up the pack when we travel,” he said. “When we are in Nova Scotia filming SULLIVAN’S CROSSING, we’re all there. I get to work, and I get to go home and play with the babies. Now, is this extra work for me to throw on top, so I can’t be solely focused onSULLIVAN’S CROSSING Yeah, but that just means I need to better place my time and figure out how do I manage this all?”
As much as Murray loves his career, his family comes first.
“It’s important that they’re here, because I don’t believe in breaking up the pack to the point where they’re like ‘Oh, dad’s on another trip,’ And for me, I wouldn’t trade this for anything, no matter the amount of success, it doesn’t matter. It trumps all of that,” he said.
Murray recently took to Instagram in honor of the 20th anniversary of A CINDERELLA STORY, which he starred in with Hillary Duff.
“Here we go! In honor of CINDERELLA STORY’s 20TH anniversary we found it only suitable to honor it with some Charity love. This film has brought so many of us together. I’m so very grateful for that and so is Austin Ames😉 proceeds go to St. Jude’s as we love what they do for children and families. I will personally autograph and hug:) – each each jersey ordered and we can celebrate our 20TH anniversary in style,” he wrote.

Speaking to Page Six, Murray said, “We pray at every meal. That’s one of the foundations of teaching a good moral compass in our children. Having the fear of God is vital because, to be honest, what do you have to lose if you have no fear of that. If you have no fear of God it would be chaos here.
“We read the Bible, I start the day reading a chapter,” the LEFT BEHIND actor continued. “We teach the kids about Jesus and who Jesus was and the story and we do church on Sundays.”
Murray shares two children with actress Sarah Roemer, whom he married in 2015. The couple met on the set of CHOSEN, which they starred in together.
