Halifax Radio and TV folks gathered back on Saturday to say goodbye to Rick Howe.
Rick was a Halifax radio legend with close to 50 years on-air in New Brunswick and here in Nova Scotia.
His wife Yvonne Colbert, formerly of ATV/ASN and more recently CBC, and family, appreciated the huge outpouring of support.
Steve Murphy was the MC with a couple of hundred of us radio and TV faces gathered at the Lord Nelson with listeners and politicians as well. A few folks even flew in from Toronto and Ottawa to pay their respects. There were both video and audio tributes to Rick.
I was lucky to work with Rick over the years at 92/CJCH. Many of us wore “The Rick Howe Uniform” of a Montreal Expos hat and a Hawaiian shirt.

Rick requested for us to bring flowers that were later distributed to cheer people at places like Northwood and Ronald McDonald House.
Yvonne requested us to hang a hat on a door handle in memory of Rick.
Our 92/CJCH memories will go on including those water gun fights in the hallway and toothpaste on telephone receivers.
Rest easy Rick and remember “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention!”
