Unofficial Season 2 preparation tips

Tips/Tricks

With Season 2 a mere 2 weeks away, what tips and thoughts for preparing do you have in mind.

Here's some of mine:

  • Fleet Management - means having a fleet to manage. Starting building a handy reserve of ships, or gathering the materials to build them (a Barque costs 12 each of the blue rare materials)

  • Fleet Management is also likely to leverage the terrible Ship Rank system, so weapons/armour/furniture in an efficient way (which means more mats). Don't forget you can snag a Royal Custodian on Heists / Convoys semi-regularly by boarding the gold ships.

  • Ship Upgrade system - is likely to require some kind of resource and if they've done it right, is likely to be a significant resource sink. Again, gather those materials and have a stock ready to go.

  • Board Reset - whilst we don't have details on the full reset. Based on comments during the AMAs, it is likely that the permanent pieces (factories & upgrades) are being reset... to account for those "New Takeover Opportunities" on the roadmap to feature.

  • HelmCoin/Po8 reset - no details on this one, but I recommend having a spending plan just in case there's a full reset. (See stocking resources above)

  • Rare Resources - these cannot be bought from the Black Market.

    • Greenheart - one of the rarest resources in the game. There are 12 trees (near Bastide/Du Bois) and 3 areas which sell/can be plundered for planks. Buy the planks from Du Bois (14 in toal) and plunder it (28 more) whenever you can. Greenheart could be a bottleneck resource depending on how the upgrade system etc go.

    • Magnetite - Grand Falaise and Dutchman's Camp have loads of ore

    • Roselle - Kokok Terapung

    • Prime Animal Skins - Please don't make Prime Animal Skins important...

  • Kingpin Ghost & Dino - no idea if these are coming back in Season 2. Plan accordingly.

Eh, I’ll just get what I need as I need it. Seasons are plenty long enough not to rush it. The ones who are stockpiling everything now will be the same ones complaining that they have nothing left to do within the first week🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean they HAVE to add more of an endgame and soon otherwise there won’t be a game to play. Like if the endgame is just repeated po8 grind and no reason to PvP, then the game is DoA which would suck as it’s great so far.

Definitely agree with more of an endgame however I, personally, don’t care if there is no reason to pvp. 200+ hours in and have probably done actual pvp for 15 minutes or less.

Shared world PvE is good enough for me. I prefer playing solo but able to help or get help with world events. I just hope there are more rewards to do it as the season goes on.

Zero Interest in PVP. I play when I can and really don't group up. I do love the open world, meeting other players, and grouping up for events, but not really interested in sailing around by myself and getting blown out of the water by roving bands of players.

PvP could be a very fun activity. Imagine a capture the area style Conquest that has teams of 3vs3 or 5vs5 that we can queue into for po8/silver for articulating and more for winning.

Thissss

Nope. I get how people would like this, but it's not something I'd be interested in.

180 hrs and one PvP. Zero interest in PvP in this game unless they are "guild"/team battles (so 3v3 and up).

Yeah team based PvP is what I have always advocated for.

True, although I stockpiled to give me something to do, not really to be set for season 2.

The ones complaining about nothing left to do have moved on, that is the cycle of AAA live service.

Personally, preparing ahead of the Season means I have more time to consider about how I choose to consume the content that will come with Season 2. Instead of having to balancing competing priorities of playing the new stuff and sailing around playing mobile mini-games. 7 Ps and all that.

Different strokes for different folks.

Mobile minigames. I see why you still like this game.

Great take.

I'm not gonna say much but save up on raw materials. Don't ask me why just trust me

u/funkenstein73 avatar

I predict that this is the way

Or just wait a couple of more weeks to find out what is what.

Prime Animal Skins - Please don't make Prime Animal Skins important...

A thousand times please on this one.

Rare Resources - these cannot be bought from the Black Market.

These materials feel underutilized already so they will definitely play a major role in the next season.

And if they start releasing larger ships, probably not season 2, but these will likely be required to make whatever purple variant comes next by mixing with other stuff, as I sincerely doubt they're gonna release the other half of the map until they can charge for an expansion.

Farming these and exotics will be high on my list.

Yeah I need to get grinding the Dino, only killed him once so far…

u/magsical_ avatar

Only use for prime animal skins should be a vendor for cosmetics like the teeth in Lanitra.

Plenty of Greenheart and Magnetite from the ships in the area where the trees and ore are found as well. I racked up 600 of greenheart that way.

And I hope the potential upgrade system will be a resource sink so we have a need to collect them.

Season 2....with no one playing the game. What a waste of money this game was.

Why are you even here?

To spread the word of shit games, doing God's work.
