Award-winning West End musical Operation Mincemeat at the Fortune Theatre in London has announced new cast members to join the company.
Operation Mincemeat has played at the West End’s Fortune Theatre since 2023, garnering over 65 five-star reviews from London theatre critics. The show recently won Best New Musical at the 2024 Olivier Awards.
Joining the ensemble cast are Chloe Hart (Six The Musical – UK tour) as Johnny Bevan & others; Emily Barber (Bodies, Industry, Backstairs Billy – West End) playing Ewen Montagu & others; Christian Andrews (Cinderella, A Pissedmas Carol) as Hester Leggatt & others; Seán Carey (The Play That Goes Wrong) as Charles Cholmondeley & others; and Claire-Marie Hall continues in the cast as Jean Leslie & others.
New understudies include George Jennings (Nell Gwynn – West End & Shakespeare’s Globe) and Jonty Peach (SuperYou, Stranger Sings!), joining Geri Allan and Holly Sumpton.
The new cast starts at the Fortune Theatre on 13 May 2024.
The original Operation Mincemeat cast – David Cumming, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone and Zoë Roberts, will finish up this Saturday, 11 May 2024.
It’s currently unclear whether Geri Allan, and Holly Sumpton will remain with the cast.
Operation Mincemeat is directed by 2023 Olivier Award nominated Robert Hastie (Standing at the Sky’s Edge), with choreography by Olivier Award nominated Jenny Arnold (Jerry Springer: The Opera).
The creative team also includes Ben Stones (Sylvia) as Set and Costume Designer, Mark Henderson (Girl From the North Country) as Lighting Designer, and Mike Walker (Jerry Springer: The Opera) as Sound Designer. Also, Steve Sidwell (Beautiful) is Orchestrator and Vocal Arranger, and Joe Bunker is Musical Director. Georgie Staight is Associate Director, Paul Isaiah Isles is Associate Choreographer, and casting is by Pearson Casting.
The show originally debuted at the New Diorama Theatre in London in 2019 and then played the Southwark Playhouse and Riverside Studios before moving into the West End.
Operation Mincemeat is the fast-paced, hilarious and unbelievable true story of the twisted secret mission that won us World War II.
The show recently extended its West End run for an 8th time, and is now booking to 16 November 2024 at the Fortune Theatre.
The producers of Operation Mincemeat have also confirmed that they are eyeing a Broadway transfer for the show.
