Pohang Steelers vs Jeju Predictions

Pohang have been in strong early season form, and they should be able to deal with Jeju on Sunday.

A home win is my only selection at Steelyard Stadium.

  • Pohang won 7 of their last 10 matches
  • Pohang won their last 3 matches against Jeju (K League 1)
  • Jeju lost 3 of their last 4 matches
  • Jeju lost 12 of their last 16 away matches

Head to Head

Pohang and Jeju will square off for the 151st time on Sunday. Since 2006, Pohang have won 20 matches, with Jeju victors on 17 occasions.

The Steelers have had the better of recent encounters, remaining unbeaten in their last four matchups, including a 4-2 win at Steelyard Stadium last July.

Pohang Steelers Form

Pohang extended their unbeaten run to ten matches with a hard-fought win against Jeonbuk Motors earlier this week. Kim Jong-Woo's stoppage time goal was enough to claim a 1-0 victory for Park Tae-Ha's men.

The Steelers had been held to draws in their last three games at Steelyard Stadium.

Eleven games into the KL1 season, Pohang sit top of the pile with 24 points amassed since losing at Ulsan on the opening day of the campaign.

Pohang Steelers Team News

Pohang boss Tae-Ha could hand a recall to Kim Jong-Woo after the 30-year-old's match-winning goal against Jeonbuk.

Sung-dong Baek remains the only player missing for the Steelers.

Jeju Form

Jeju broke their four-game losing run with a vital win against bottom-of-the-table
Daegu on Monday. Kim Tae-Hwan's second goal of the season secured a narrow 1-0 victory for the Jeju-Province side.

Kim Hak-bum's side lost successive matches against Gimcheon Sangmu (2-0), Suwon (2-1), Ulsan (3-1) and Gwangju (3-1) before last weekend's much-needed success.

Jeju now find themselves seventh in the KL1, 11 points behind Pohang.

Jeju Team News

Jeju boss Tae-Hwan is unlikely to make too many alterations from the side that edged past Daegu. Brazilian playmaker Reis could earn a recall after he replaced Han Jong-Mu at half-time on Monday.

Ja-cheol Koo and Ju-gong Kim are long-term absentees for the away side.

Verdict

Pohang should prove too good for a Jeju side that has struggled to find much form in the early part of the KL1 season.

I'm backing the Steelers to claim another victory at Steelyard Stadium.
