Why Wasn't Kurt Angle Happy With His Last WWE Run?

WWE Hall Of Famer and former WWE Champion, Kurt Angle, has opened up about what he really thought of his final WWE run.

After leaving the WWE in 2006, Angle, already known as an accomplished professional wrestler if not one of the all time greats, the Olympic gold medallist, sensationally joined TNA.

Throughout his time in TNA, Angle achieved numerous milestones and accolades, solidifying his status as a wrestling legend.

Angle would eventually returned to his former battle ground, where he made his name, in 2017. Angle’s enduring legacy and contributions to the wrestling world were then honoured as he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, solidifying his status as an icon.

However, as documented on Wrestling Life Online, Angle expressed how he wasn’t happy with his last WWE run…

“When WWE brought me back after I spent 11 years in TNA, they had a different plan for me than I did, they wanted to induct me into the Hall of Fame first. And I was like, ‘Vince, the Hall of Fame should be last, when I retire.’ He said, ‘Well, we want to induct you into the Hall of Fame and get a feel for you, make sure you’re doing okay.’

Kurt Angle had been away from the WWE for over a decade and admitted that the effects of what he had done in the ring, plus the inevitable factor of aging had caught up to the superstar.

When you get away from it at the age I was. Fans could tell that I was not the same wrestler, I looked older, I wrestled like I was older, I felt like I was looking like an old man. And I didn’t like what I saw.”

Following his retirement from professional wrestling in April 2019, Angle seamlessly transitioned into a role as a backstage producer for WWE, leveraging his invaluable experience and expertise to guide the next generation of wrestling talent.

The Two AEW Stars Kurt Angle Believes Are The Best

Recently Kurt Angle opened up about who he thought were the two best wrestlers of the modern era. Perhaps surprisingly, both turned out to be current AEW stars. One of those that Angle names has called Angle himself, “the greatest”.
