I'm wondering if the racing would be better if the Varianta Alta chicane was gone and we could have a second DRS zone in that now longer straight
Missed the race, what happened to Stanek?
Massive crash at the start
Did Aron do something in the podium? I saw people saying that they are disappointed, but ESPN South cut after Argentina's anthem.
He walked off but came back after spraying for pictures. No drama there, he is just understandably disappointed, he still congratulated others.
I think he walked off the podium as soon as the others were starting to spray the champaign
Only watched until the finish so I wouldn't know if this is true.
I just have to say that drivers running away from the podium once the bottles are opened is standard procedure for many drivers in junior categories.
They don't have many racing suits available and doing a full race tomorrow stinking of sparkling "wine" for the feature race is not favorable.
"this race was shit"
What a horrible race, 3 overtakes in an F2 face is really concerning
F3 race was much more entertaining and they only managed 6 laps
I fell asleep to hear the final lap overtake in my headphones lol. What has happened to these cars.
My gosh, Hadjar can't catch a break:
Bahrain: main race P2, hit by Bortoleto at the start, dnf
Jeddah: sprint P5, mechanical issue, dnf. Main: P7, mechanical issue, dnf
Melbourne: Sprint: P1 to P6 (10sec penalty post race)
Imola: Sprint, hit by Verschoor, dnf
Edit: Imola sprint: hit by Stanek, dnf
Pretty sure if you mean the trident that got involved, that was Stanek, Verschoor was further back
When was Hadjar hit by Verschoor tho?
Stanek. My bad.
he has truly abysmal luck, and generally by no fault of his own. i really hope it turns around for him soon
not aron walking off without celebrating or congratulating anybody lmao
He did congratulate though and also came back after spraying for photos.
Aron seemed especially salty there
Well yeah... he lost his first win on the last lap.
Colapinto's move made it all worth it in the end. A staunch defense by Aron just let down by fine margins.
But this does show Imola's known weaknesses for open wheel racing. Overtakes should be difficult but there needs more of a balance. Hopefully strategy can salvage it for both series tomorrow.
Imola should've already reversed some changes they did to the track after 1994. Tamburello as a chicane can stay, but the Villeneuve chicane and the Variante Alta are doing more harm than good for wheel to wheel racing
Agreed, I don't think either of those two corners would be a safety concern nowadays if the chicanes were removed. Villeneuve in particular has a ton of runoff. Tamburello would definitely not be safe in its original form but actually that chicane produces some overtaking opportunities anyway so its probably better for racing as it is.
Colapinto's dad in tears on ESPN. Also very moderate and humble soundimg sir.
"See you on the parking lot" face for Aron.
Any update on the start procedure infringement for Verschoor?
Marti got penalised so I'm assuming he took Verschoor's spot
CMV: Aron has the most punchable face after Cordeel
I'd say Hadjar, Martins and Bortoleto are all up there.
Let's see your face
No way Colapinto was fully off the track there. Right decision, no further investigation.
He was almost thrown out of the track by Aron, even if he was four wheels on the kerb at Tamburello, it would be absurd to penalize him.
I don't know about that one chief.
Was there a problem with Antonelli's car? the almost stall for the formation lap, then the poor start for the race. could be just a driver error; if so, hopefully he sorts it out for the feature race.
Yeah whatever the issue, car or driver, I'm glad it happened in the sprint as opposed to the feature.
It seemed like he was redlining on 2nd or 3rd gear and unable to shift, so I would say car issue, but I'm not 100% sure
Yeah seems so
Delighted for Colapinto, solid results for Maloney and Aron with the championship in mind.
At least we got a bit of something in the final laps I suppose.
Brilliant move, ahead at the apex, pushed wide, but not even off track. Fantastic overtake.
As clean as possible there.
The great Antonelli barely stayed ahead of Villagomez and people actually think he is fit to replace Lewis Hamilton of all drivers.
I almost wonder if he had some sort of car problem today because he seemed very badly off the pace compared to earlier in the season where he's at least looked to have ok midfield pace, but I guess we'll see in the feature race. I think it's fair to say his current overall form is not looking promising for a move to F1 next year though.
It really is showing the people who don't follow F2 at all when they're raving on about him on r/Formula1!
Sorry Aron, for me Colapinto went off the track because you gave him no room.
Yeah he conveniently left that part out on the radio
Incident noted? That better not be a penalty, Colapinto was just being bullied by Aron
Edit: good, no further investigation
Yeah no further investigation, was a cracking move
Take out half the field at the start to help win the race.
Three overtakes was that?
Franco with that overtake knowing there’s an available Williams seat next season 😂
Oh, come on, FIA.
Media last week: "Antonelli at Williams in Imola".
Colapinto: The best Williams in Imola.
Well the start was chaos and the final couple of laps were good, we’ll ignore the middle of that race though!
Congrats on your feature win for tomorrow Bortoleto
Don’t jinx it please
We really need to not be jinxed, i think Bortoletto is paying for all the luck he had on F3 last year
BARNARD FINALLY SCORES FOR AIX IN F2!
Disqualified due to a technical infringement :(
Aw man.
Great result for Taylor, really pleased for him
Must be a a lot of pressure to follow up a pretty good set of results from FE as a rookie, but he held it up well and kept himself focused without any trouble.
Will be an interesting fight between Bearman and Bortoleto at the front tomorrow... You'd expect the latter to have the pace to get the win, but the pit stop should shake up the strategy a little bit more.
Based on what? F1 free practices? I dont think bearman showed any race pace this season
I can't believe Colapinto pulled that one off, what a move.
Paul Aron declares overtaking illegal
Colapinto making this boring sprint race after the start pandemonium.
Yeah, Aaron's right, this was clearly not legal. His move, that is.
Oh boy, Argentinians are going to invade Instagram
Argentina today, Brazil tomorrow. The two most annoying fan bases from South America.
We are always competing to see who's more annoying
Durksen win when? We need to know how is the paraguayan fanbase
Dürksen gotta make it three with Paraguay
Did my ears fail me or did I not hear Boy From Barbados at the chequered flag?
I love this kind of racing. People whine about boring, but overtaking should be hard. This is what pre-DRS racing at Imola always was like.
There's a difference between hard, and a much slower car (lost 1.7s in less than a lap) making a big mistake on the final corner and still almost being able to hold the position
Sorry Aron he did nothing wrong
God the Argentinians are going to be insufferable
VLLC
Beautiful overtake! You really have to work for them but they are good once they finally arrive
Not sure what Aron is complaining about. He gave Colapinto even less room
What a circuit
These 2 overtakes > 100 DRS overtakes
They used drs though? This is exactly what drs are meant to do
What a move Colapinto... Well done!!
WHAT A MOVE
Aron crumbled at the last moment.
Still a good race from him. He's been quitely having a spectacular rookie season.
