WWE’s Montez Ford recently opened up about the possibility of a solo career and his experience teaming with Bobby Lashley. Known for his dynamic presence alongside Angelo Dawkins as part of The Street Profits, Ford’s individual talents have been increasingly recognized, particularly after his standout performance in the 2023 Men’s Elimination Chamber match. In an interview with “Going Ringside,” Ford reflected on his future in WWE, balancing aspirations of solo success with ongoing goals as a tag team.
While Angelo Dawkins has also had opportunities to shine individually, such as his recent match against Tama Tonga in the King of the Ring tournament, Ford emphasized that their primary focus remains on their achievements as a duo. “I feel like for myself and Dawkins, we have so much that we’re still trying to obtain as a tag team,” Ford explained. “But I will say, if that opportunity happens, and we just spoke of when it comes to the [WWE] draft, myself could be drafted to one show, he could be drafted to one show, so we both always talk about if the opportunity presents itself, like we’re going. But as of right now, we’re still together and we’re trying to win [the WWE Tag Team Championships].”The Street Profits recently earned a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships, but their bid was thwarted by the reigning champions, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller, known as A-Town Down Under, during the May 3 episode of “SmackDown.” Despite this setback, Ford and Dawkins remain committed to reclaiming the titles, keeping their focus on the collective goal rather than individual pursuits.
Adding another layer to their career, The Street Profits have recently aligned with Bobby Lashley and B-Fab, forming a formidable group known as The Pride. This collaboration has brought a new dynamic to Ford’s journey in WWE. “It’s like full circle for me,” Ford shared, reminiscing about watching Lashley during his formative years. “When I was watching WWE coming up in middle school and high school, I was watching Bobby Lashley. I was watching his matches with John Cena and him competing for the United States Championship at the time.
Then seeing how we had similar backgrounds from coming from the [military] service and then doing WWE. So he was always someone I watched, idolized, and tried to take after. So now for us being associated, part of that, it’s like a full circle for me.”Since its inception last summer, The Pride has been embroiled in a heated rivalry with another faction, The Final Testament, led by Karrion Kross and featuring Scarlett, The Authors of Pain, and Paul Ellering. Their most notable confrontation occurred on the second night of WrestleMania 40, where Lashley, Ford, and Dawkins triumphed over Kross and The Authors of Pain in a Philadelphia Street Fight.
As Montez Ford continues to evolve within WWE, his reflections on both his individual ambitions and team efforts underscore a balanced approach to his career. While the prospect of a solo run remains on the horizon, his current dedication to The Street Profits and The Pride highlights his commitment to achieving success on multiple fronts within the wrestling world.
