Sophie Turner has spoken frankly about her struggles during her divorce from Joe Jonas.
The Game of Thrones actress, 28, and Joe, 34, were together for eight years and married for four when they announced in 2023 that they were separating.
Their break-up took a messy turn when a custody battle over their two children Willa, three, and Delphine, one, ensued.
Sophie filed child abduction charges against Joe – which she later dropped – as she reportedly hoped her daughters would grow up in England, while Joe resides in the United States.
After mediation, the ex-couple later were said to have reached an interim custody deal and expect the following proceedings to move forward ‘amicably.’
The Joan actress has now reflected on their divorce and said she ‘didn’t know if she was going to make it.’
In a new interview with British Vogue, she said: ‘There were some days that I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I would call my lawyer saying, “I can’t do this. I just can’t.” I was just never strong enough to stand up for myself.
‘And then, finally, after two weeks of me being in a rut, she reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for.
‘Once anyone says to me, “Do it for your kids,” I’m doing it. I wouldn’t do it for myself, but I’ll find the strength for them.’
Since their split, Sophie went Instagram official with Peregrine Pearson after they were spotted kissing in Paris and London.
Peregrine is the eldest son and heir of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray – a former film producer who owns a significant chunk of the Pearson media empire, estimated to have a net worth of more than £224 million.
She shared pictures of herself with Peregrine on a luxury ski trip to Apres, Meribel with a group of friends.
As well as her budding new romance, Sophie also stated her intention to enjoy her female friends’ company after declaring that 2024 is a ‘year of the girlies’.
In an Instagram post reflecting on last year, Sophie, who is starring in ITV’s Joan, wrote: ‘2023 was the year of the girlies. 2024s forecast is looking fairly consistent.’
The selection of photos that accompanied the caption included one with Joe’s former partner Taylor Swift, who was seen as a big support to Sophie during their divorce.
Meanwhile, Jonas Brothers singer Joe has been spotted with former beauty queen Stormi Bree, 33, in Aspen.
The Waffle House hitmaker and American beauty pageant titleholder were photographed on a skiing trip in New Year’s hotspot Aspen, tackling the mountains together.
According to the court filings connected to their interim custody deal, Joe and Sophie now expect the proceedings to move forward ‘amicably.’
The ex-couple are thought to have an ‘ironclad’ prenup, protecting their assets as they are both wealthy with a joint estimated net worth of $62 million (£50 million).
