Phillipsburg Police Department to host seventh annual Junior Police Academy

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – The Phillipsburg Police Department in collaboration with the Phillipsburg School District, will be hosting their seventh annual Junior Police Academy this summer.

This year the academy will begin on June 24 and end on June 28 with a graduation ceremony.

The goal of the Junior Police Academy is to provide the youth of Phillipsburg with a positive interaction with the officers that serve our community.

This will be accomplished by providing an environment where cadets can learn different aspects of everyday police work and training from experienced officers.

Cadets will also learn about a variety of special units; Criminal Investigations, SWAT, NJSP Aviation and NJSP Bomb Technicians are some examples of the experience we will provide. Cadets should be prepared to learn from a ”hands on” approach and will be offered the opportunity to handle simulated investigations of their own.

The Junior Police Academy will be open to applicants entering 6th-9th grades during the 2024-2025 school year.

Any Phillipsburg Middle School student interested in participating can obtain an application from Sgt. Sokolowski in the main office or e-mail rsokolowski@pburg.org.

This year will see another change in venue due to building improvements around the Phillipsburg School District. The Phillipsburg Elementary School, located at 525 Warren Street, will be the host school this year.
