Vote: Who should be SBLive's Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week (5/13/2024)?

It's finally the end of the 2023-24 athletic year in Oklahoma, and several athletes across various sports finished things off with a flourish. 

Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oklahoma High School Athlete of the Week for May 6-12. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Voting will conclude Sunday at 11:59 p.m. If you would like to nominate an athlete, email athleteoftheweek@scorebooklive.com or tag us on Twitter

Jacob Wehba, Westmoore baseball 

Wehba, a junior, went 3-for-3 at the plate, including a two-run double to help fuel a Jaguar comeback as Westmoore, once down 3-0, stormed back to defeat Sand Springs, 7-4, for the 6A championship, the Jaguars' first title since 1994. 

Easton Harless, Midwest City Carl Albert baseball

Harless had two extra-base hits and drove in five runs, including a triple with the bases loaded during a six-run fourth as the Titans, once down 6-2, scored 11 unanswered runs for a 13-6 win against Duncan, successfully repeating as 5A champions.

Mason Holding, Marlow baseball

Holding hit a walk-off in the Outlaws' 4A semifinal win against defending champion Tuttle. Then in the 4A title game, he was the winning pitcher, giving up just two hits and striking out five and also got out of a runner on third with nobody out situation in the bottom of the seventh in a 3-2 win against Blanchard. It was the first championship in program history for Marlow.

Tristin Babbitt, Washington baseball

Babbitt, a senior left-hander, pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out eight as the Warriors claimed their third consecutive championship with a 4-0 win against Perry for the 3A title.

Maddox Edwards/Darren Ledford, Oktaha baseball

Both Edwards and Ledford had three hits apiece and both pitched three innings as Oktaha won its first spring baseball title with a 15-5 win against Cashion for the 2A crown. Edwards also scored three runs and drove in another, while Ledford had three RBIs.

Mustang girls track

Mustang won the 6A girls team championship, the first state title in program history. The Lady Broncos also had three individual state champions; Emily Cloutier in the pole vault (12-8), Kassidi Watkins in the long jump (20-1.5, which set a 6A meet record) and Jordan Atkinson, who won both the 100 (11.74) and 200 (23.75), with Atkinson becoming a three-time state champion in the 100. The 400 relay team os Watkins, Atkinson, Lauren Coleman and Kamyah Penn also took first place (46.67).

De'Yanna Douglas, Midwest City girls track

Douglas was a double-winner at the 5A state meet, capturing first in both the shot put (44-3.5) and the discus (139-5).

Chloe Threatt, Oklahoma City John Marshall girls track

Threatt successfully defended her Class 5A state championship by winning the 100 meters (11.83).

Midwest City Carl Albert boys track

The Titans won the 5A state meet, their first title since 2018. They also had two relay champions in the 400 team of Christian Oku, Trystan Haynes, Byron Stubbs and Deontra Dukes (41.51), as well as the 1,600 team of Stubbs, Haynes, Casey Baker and Noah Darnell (3:19.06). Haynes, who recently committed to play football at Oklahoma, also won the 400 event (47.24).

Kayvon Nubine, Edmond Memorial girls track

Nubine, a senior, set a 6A meet record by winning the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 13.70.

Joshua Rammage, Southmoore boys track

Rammage won the 800 meter run at the 6A meet, setting a 6A meet record with a time of 1:51.35.

Brody Woodcock, Edmond Deer Creek boys track

Woodcock was a double-champion at the 6A state meet, winning both the 1,600 (4:15.25) and the 3,200 (9:09.92).

Julia McBride, Edmond North girls soccer

McBride, a junior midfielder, accounted for both goals as the Lady Huskies defeated Norman North, 2-1, to win the 6A championship, their first title since 2011.

Parker Zahn, Holland Hall girls soccer

Zahn, a junior forward, scored two goals to help the Dutch pull away for an eventual 4-2 win against Pryor for the 5A title. Holland Hall also won its third consecutive title after having won the previous two as a 4A member.

Layney Molini, Oologah girls soccer

Molini scored both of her team's goals, the latter coming in the 55th minute, as Oologah won its first title since 1995 with a 2-1 win against Weatherford for the 4A crown.

Preslee Hartsock, Community Christian girls soccer

Hartsock scored the go-ahead goal as Community Christian snapped Casady's string of 13 consecutive shutout wins with a 3-1 victory for the 3A title, the first in program history for Community Christian.

Jack Franklin, Jenks boys soccer

Franklin made two big saves in a shootout and also scored the eventual game-winning goal in that shootout as Jenks won the 6A title for the second straight season with a 1-0 (3-1 in penalty kicks) win against Broken Arrow.

Hunter Johnson, Tulsa Edison boys soccer

Johnson, a senior forward, scored both goals as Edison defeated Tulsa Booker T. Washington, 2-0, for the 5A championship, the Eagles' first title in 30 years.

Alex Alspaugh, Heritage Hall boys soccer

In a matchup of defending state champions, Alspaugh tallied the go-ahead goal in the second half as the Chargers defeated Clinton, 3-1, for the 4A title. Heritage Hall, which won it all last year in 3A, also stopped Clinton's bid for a fourth straight championship.

Eddy Parra, Casady boys soccer

Parra, a junior midfielder, scored the golden goal in overtime as the Cyclones claimed their first title in program history with a 2-1 win against Crooked Oak for the 3A championship.

Krishna Bhadriraju, Jenks boys tennis

Bhadriraju claimed the Class 6A No. 1 boys singles championship by rallying for a three-set win in the finals, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Jack Franklin/Dylan Rainwater, Edmond North boys tennis

Franklin and Rainwater teamed up to capture the 6A No. 1 boys doubles championship with a three-set win after falling in the opening set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

T.J. Shanahan, Bishop McGuinness boys tennis

Shanahan claimed the 5A No. 1 boys singles title with a three-set win in the finals, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Zander Nelson/Sumner Shapard, Crossings Christian boys tennis

Nelson and Shapard prevailed to win the 5A No. 1 boys doubles championship. They won both their semifinal and championship matches by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Their performance also helped Crossings Christian claim the 5A team championship.

Ada boys tennis

The Cougars claimed the Class 4A boys team championship. They also had the No. 1 boys singles champion in Halston Redwine and the No. 1 boys doubles champions in Tate Danielson and Jackson Swopes. 

Preston Albee, Choctaw boys golf

Albee, a University of Oklahoma commit, claimed the individual title at the Class 6A state tournament. He shot a three-round total of 205 (70-63-72).

Coleman Sides, Cascia Hall boys golf

Sides tied for first place, but won the playoff to take home the Class 5A individual championship after a three-round total of 211 (71-70-70). His performance helped the Commandos capture the 5A team title.

Jace Chaney, Plainview boys golf

Chaney won the Class 4A individual championship by shooting a three-round total of 212 (69-68-75). His performance also helped Plainview take the 4A team championship. 

Collin Bond, Community Christian boys golf

Bond, an Oklahoma State signee, won the 3A individual title after shooting a three-round total of 210 (72-72-66). His performance also helped the Royals win the 3A team title.

Carter Ray, Walters boys golf

Ray was the Class 2A individual state champion after shooting a three-round total of 219 (72-72-75).
