The fact that it's not taking place in the BB universe makes me more interested in the show. the BB Universe ended, it came to an incredibly satisfying conclusion and now it's over, I'm glad Vince isn't returning to that exact same creative well again but is instead working with the crew and actors he's gathered around him like a theater troupe and creating something new.
Well, the good thing about BB and BCS was the writers knew when to end the shows. They didn’t prolong just because of fandom.

It's funny because I've been watching Breaking Bad / BCS commentaries and you can tell Vince was a little bummed about needing to shoot in New Mexico for budget reasons ... at first at least ... (other people on the commentary track always swoop in to defend New Mexico's role in the show.)
I think he wanted the infrastructure that exists in California like few if any other place on Earth in that it's specifically designed with filmmaking in mind ... plus that's where he lived.
Now that I've said all that, I can say that it seems like he's definitely come around to liking the state at this point. I don't know the details but I imagine he chose NM this time around, compared to it being a necessity like it was for Breaking Bad.

Yes, it's totally new. So far we know it probably has some scifi elements and the main character is more of a good protagonist rather than the anti-heroes of BB and BCS. I'm beyond excited, especially because Rhea Seehorn is so unbelievably good at acting.
